ok today's the day. and i'm gonna bite the bullet and drink the glucola. i'm so nervous. i made sure to not eat sugar and keep it relatively low card yesterday (even though i was craving sweets like a mother******) to give me a better chance. listen i've been eating...lets just say this...i haven't been eating a lot but i haven't been eating the healthiest. i likes my sweets y'all. i have a candy stash this pregnancy.

but anyway. my biggest concern is trying not to pee on myself on the long drive there. because i plan to drink a lot of water before the glucola.

i really don't wanna fail this test!!! i'm so scared. i was pre-diabetic before surgery but since then my pcos has been in check so i'm really hoping i do ok. wish me luck! i'll update you guys when i get back.

*update*

ok so i drank it. the taste wasn't bad at all. but halfway through i was like ugh enough. and of course i forced myself. drank it all in 7 min. i felt a little gross and pukey. especially bc it doesn't just go down like water does. it just kind of sat there and i was worried it would come up. because i had the sleeve i don't get dumping so it wasn't as bad as if i had RNY. so i drove there. and the only thing i can say, which was very surprising, is that it gave me the runs!!! i had a 40 min drive and got there in 35..and thank god because i had to RUN to the bathroom!! whew!!! that was unpleasant. what a strange reaction. forgive me ladies, but i was peeing through my ass. ok ok sorry!! tmi!!! but its just a weird unexpected side effect. other than that nothing other than a yucky feeling. oh and it made me kind of sleepy. we'll see what the results are. but fingers crossed that i pass and i don't have to test again!!!

Ug you are brave! Good luck! I hope you are one of the lucky ones that isn't phased by the glucola! Remember even if you fail this one, you might pass the 3 hour test and be just fine! Good luck :)

Does drinking water effect the test? Or is that just for yoursake that your drinking it? I had my daughter still born last year at 17 weeks so I never had the glucose test done but I will say that I have been able to eat what ever I want since surgery and have never dumped on anything....sort of wish I did. I hope that the test does not reek havoc on your system and that you get a successful outcome!!

i always drink a lot of water before my appts bc 1. its important to be very hydrated before they take your blodd, i found that out the hard way. and 2. because the more water i drink the clearer my urine comes out. and they test my urine everytime. i don't think it has any effect on the glucola.

LOL Meli! I guess "peeing out your butt" is better than projectile vomiting eh? Glad it worked out :)

I can totally relate to the beginning of your post. I never crave sugar, but this pregnancy I've wanted it like nobody's business!

I, too, had my glucose test last week - drank the drink. I felt very tired afterwards and it all (eventually) came out the back later (more solid than yours, though, it sounds like!). I don't dump, but I do get a very upset stomach with too much sugar, and I was fine.

Unfortunately, my results came abck as being anemic, so I have to take iron pills 2x a day and repeat the test in 4 weeks. I hav always taken the test first thing in the a.m. (7 or 8a) and fast from the night before, for the best reading. Water definitely helps with the veins.

Keep us posted on your results - hopefully all went great!

i'm glad someone had a similar experience. you know they told me the same thing about the iron a couple months ago. i had to up the iron. they tested my hemoglobin when they did the glucose thing so we'll see. hopefully that was enough. they told me to take the iron at night and not to eat any dairy at night. so i take my prenatal, vit d, calcium in the morning then at night i chew my iron and take my B12.  hopefully that combo is working.

i haven't heard back yet, which is a good sign. they told me they would contact me if something was wrong but otherwise i probably wouldn't hear from them. but they did also say they would let me know about the hemoglobin so i might hear from them monday. hopefully all my levels are good.

hey upping iron is an easy fix, be glad thats all that came from that test. it sucks that you have to repeat it though. :/ well at least its just the same test and not the 3 hour one.

oh no. . .this is what I am worried about with this test. I did have the RNY so if it gave you the runs with the sleeve. . .I will probably have to sit on the toilet with the garbage can in front of me. . .lol!
Just GREAT!. . lol. I'm going to see my doc tonight and ask him if I really really need to do this test.
