Gaining weight!

Okay, I realize that there is a baby growing inside of me and I am happier than I can express, but please understand that I have a problem and Im looking for comfort and reassurance, not wanting to be condemned please.

I am 31 weeks pregnant on Friday and I have lost around 20 lbs since I found out I was pregnant in March. Just recently I have put on about 4 lbs fairly rapidly, literally over night. I called the doc and after tests to check to make sure I wasnt preeclamptic, she just said water retention and I can guarantee that is correct because this weather change has made me so thirsty lately, but that number going up has been causing me some SERIOUS anxiety. I will weigh myself multiple times a day when my weight goes up and I know I shouldnt. Yes I seek couseling, and I will OCD over this. When youre a 380lb 28 yr old, you pray for something to work. Now that I had my surgery and have lost over 150 lbs, its hard to see that number going up. I am having serious issues with it and just would like to know if anyone else has experienced this.
I will have 8 weeks to go before we go in for our scheduled c section.(my daughter was born via c section prior to rny due to low heart rate) so I know I don't have a whole lot longer, but it just scares me that I am gaining because i have stretched my pouch and will continue to gain after the baby is born. I generally watch what Im eating, not giving all the way in to cravings, like I made sf carrot cake bars but will only take a few bites, keep up the protein, eat lots of cheese for snacks and drink water. I do eat some carbs, but not all.
I am just so afraid to be obese again.

First, take a deep breath!  Second, no condemnation here!  Third, this is NORMAL!  We all go through this.  Once you've been obese, I think the fear of going back is probably going to last forever.  However, don't let it ruin the last 2 months of your pregnancy.  You've got 8 weeks left, you're  going to gain some weight.  Probably not the full 20 that you've lost, but most likely some... it is OK.  Now might be a good time to give the scale to your husband and tell him to hide it and not give it to you no matter what you tell him.  By now you're at the doctor's office getting weighed every other week, soon to be every week.  That is plenty often for them to keep an eye on you to make sure nothing crazy is going on.  Weighing yourself daily, or multiple times a day sounds like it is just ramping up your anxiety.  Eat healthy, drink lots, and know that whatever happens with your weight in the next 8 weeks does not define your future!  You have a person in you, one that is rapidly gaining weight... this does not mean you're destined to be 380 lbs again!  Enjoy your pregnancy, try to focus on other things, and when the baby is here, your pouch will be right there with you to continue on your journey!

Congrats, and good luck!

Relax, I'm only 18 weeks, and I just popped 2 weeks ago.  I'm freaking out because the weight is all upper abdomen, but I know my uterus is still 1 1/2 to 2 inches below my belly button!!  So my freak is that this can't be baby!!  Even the doc on Monday at my amnio told me "the baby is pushing everything else out of its way, it isn't fat, it's tummy stuff getting pushed."

I totally understand and relate to the freak out, I keep being told I should let it go, but you should see me!  I have limited myself to weighing only first thing in the morning, once a day.  Try to limit just that if you can.  And remember, you do need to eat small but more frequent rather than alot at once.  It will avoid you being hungry, will provide baby with the nutrition it needs and keep you from stretching your pouch.

Good luck!

I understand your issue.  It seems at this point I can look at something with sugar and gain 4 pounds overnight.  Unfortunetly I'm only 28 weeks and gain 26 pounds, which now I'm struggling to hold as steady as safely possible for several weeks as per doctor's orders.  I'm still waiting on my GD test results.  Until 3 weeks ago I was avg. weight gain.   The cheese could be slightly a bit more of a problem, it can cause constipation, and weight gain.  I agree, get someone to hide your scale, esp. after your first weigh in of the day.

I can totally relate to what you are saying - I am not pregnant yet but hope to be soon and I am stressing already. I think we just have to keep reminding ourselves that the weight is gained for a purpose. For a child......not for any other reason.....you sound like you eat very healthy and take care of yourself - you have not "let yourself go" in the name of "eating for two". Hang in there....I can totally sympathize/empathize with you!!!
