met with a pediatrician today. looks like he's a winner :)
just wanted to share this with you guys. i had gone to a vaccine seminar at my birthing center and this woman gave out a list of vaccine friendly doctors. meaning they were open to working around YOUR vaccine schedule. like if you wanted to not get some or just take it real slow and not bunch them up. i thought it was interesting and took a look at the list. i noticed one doc was like right by my new house. so i looked him up online. they call him dr. spiderman bc his office is decorated that way. lol. i saw lots of good reviews. so i said, ok let me go meet with this guy and see.
so today we finally went. right off the bat i notice he has a "sick" waiting room and a "well" waiting room with 2 different enterances which i like. the staff was nice. they schedule consultations during lunch so the place was empty. the waiting room was soooo cute. all spiderman. now i know why they call him dr. spiderman.
( the waiting room)
We filled out a simple form then they called us into an exam room. also totally painted. so cute. i love the character in this place.
every single room, even the hallway was painted. i love the attention to detail. its his own private practice. its nice to see someone put that much work and care into their place. i can tell this guy loves kids. so he walks in. i had read he was in his 60s so i was expecting a short white guy with short hair and a tie. nope. lol. in walks this guy with a grey braid, ripped acid wash jeans and labcoat with spiderman patches on it. so cute. what a character. he looked like an old hippy/biker. i love this guy already. i knew i wasn't getting a stuffy by the book doctor. he answered all my questions and he had great answers. everything i wanted to hear. we're on the same page as far as airing on the more natural side. when it comes to breastfeeding, anti-biotics and vaccines. and he even knew about my birthing center and the midwife who runs it! he was very supportive. he showed us the vaccination schedule and it was very reasonable but said if we wanted to we could slow it down even more. i just felt like i could trust him to trust me. you know? i felt like my baby would be in good hands. then i got home and told my friends and it turns out my cousin when she lived here used to go to him as well and she loved him. so thats it. he's the guy. first one is a winner. and best part? he's only 5 min away! how cool is that?!
also he gave us some print outs with a bunch of info on it which i really appreciate. he even gave us a card with a number to reach him at any time. how cool that the first guy i talk to is the one i choose. it wasn't that easy with finding a doc to deliver the baby.
