kind of bummed.
i am 11 months out and had my annual with my ob/gyn yesterday. i've had previous infertility treatments pre op (that were not successful) with an RE (6 medicated cycles, 3 with injectibles and IUI). originally misdiagnosed as pcos, then listed as unexplained infertility.
i had my primary draw day 3 bloodwork for fsh, prolactin, e2 and then a 7dpo draw for progesterone. my fsh came back at 10 (borderline) and elevated prolactin (although not crazy high, but just borderline elevated).
my ob/gyn said that he would just go right back to the RE instead of waiting and trying on our own to get pregnant. the #1 reason i did this surgery was to have a better chance at getting pregnant and i think i'm just really disappointed that he suggested we skip that step and go right to the RE. he said with the FSH and prolactin levels he wouldn't waste time.
i know it's a good thing that he's so proactive (i'll be 37 in february) and i know the end result is to have a baby who is healthy. i'm just dreading going back to all of the appointments, injections, blood draws, 6 a.m. dr. visits with a probe in my most private spaces, etc... didn't really expect to have to do all that again.
just had to whine a little bit and knew this was a safe place to do so. thanks for listening!

I'm sorry Jessica :(
I also had WLS in order to have an easier time getting pregnant. I have PCOS and only one fallopian tube due to a previous ectopic pregnancy. I still needed the help of an RE to get and stay pregnant, even after losing 150 pounds. BUT..... I got pregnant on my very first round of injectables with IUI. I KNOW that wouldn't have happened prior to WLS. So although it is still not ideal, I hope that you have a much better experience with the RE post weight loss! I can tell you from very recent experience that my handsome little newborn is worth all of the probing and sticking and 6am appointments in the world! :) Good luck and keep us posted!

thank you so much for your kind words... to hear that it actually worked on the first try is very encouraging to me... we are in the process of switching to my husbands insurance (will happen in november) which covers several rounds of IF treatments, including 4 IVFs. (mine covers only diagnostic) - think we will go for the consult in the fall and then treatment in 2013.
