So last week I tried to do my glucose tolerance test and vomited all the drink up. so I called my nurse and explained my concerns about a repeat performance and reminded her I had the sleeve she suggested I try jelly beans instead. so i went to the lab and ate 18 jelly bellies and waited and hr and they took my blood. got the results that I passed! although my sugar level was kinda low. nurse said the lower blood sugar might explain my dizziness and shortness of breath. anyone else get ocassional low blood sugar? nurse suggested I eat more often and drink. ha I eat every 2 hrs! so excited to almost be in the 3rd trimester just 12 more days. I noticed a few days ago a big increase in my little girls activity its so cool except when trying to sleep lol. so any sleevers out there thinking of skipping the glucose tolerance test ask your dr about doing jelly beans! they are small and we don't dump. look forward to reading how everyone us doing!

thank you for posting this. i have an appt today and its the appt before the glucose test where they give me the glucola to take home. everyone makes it seem like its not a big deal. just a small amount of sunkis like drink. which sounds not so bad. but the other day i had some orange juice with me and drank some before an ultra sound and i felt sick after. gross. i'm not so much worried for the discomfort, i just don't wanna have to retake this damn test. its such a pain in the ass to begin with. so i'm gonna stick with my guns and see what my alternatives are. 18 jellybeans doesn't sound bad. my old obgyn told me i'd have to eat 50. 50!! come on, thats extreme.

Thats great news. They haven't even mentioned that to me yet. I am a little nervous about it. I don't want to develop that. I have a friend that has it and she has to take insulin. Of course I don't know if it is any different with the band. My surgeon took all of the fluid out of my band and obviously we don't dump with the band

I didn't get tested the traditional way due to dumping syndrome with RNY'ers...I test myself a few times a week and watch my levels for anything out of the ordinary. I've been doing it for the past 7 weeks and will continue randomly for the next 7.... I'm told my sugar levels are low too and I just posted a reply to another post about me fainting and/or feeling weak and they think it's due to my low sugar levels too.
Was told to eat more, but I feel like that's all I do! LOL.

I am 27 weeks and went for my glucose test last week and vomited up the drink. I ended up shaking really badly and dumping so the test was obviously null and void. I have to try again tomorrow with a carbo load test, which apparently has the same amount of sugar but is a smaller drink. I think it was a combination of the sugar, the bubbles in the drink and the 400ml of liquid I had to fit into my tiny tummy. Yuck. I feel sick just thinking about it.

What I want to know is how they are going to get an accurate result considering how our body behaves differently to a non-rny person...
