Hello All,
I am 17 months post op, going from 380 down to my current of 223. I was down to 219 but in the span of a week I have gained 4 lbs and am absolutey FREAKING out! I have had major major constipation issues (sorry TMI) and am wondering if that is my problem, but have been trying everything to get things moving. I take 3 stool softeners a day and always put like 2 caps of Miralax in my coffee in the morning. I try to drink as much as possible, that has been a downfall of mine, bc I know if I don't drink the water, the stool softeners and miralax won't work, but with the heat the midwest has been having, I just don't think I have been getting enough to stay hydrated, let alone for my constipation. I have lost about 15 lbs since I found out I was pregnant, and really am terrified to gain because i havent hit my goal wt. yet and am afraid since Im this far out post op that I never will. I still have 43 lbs left before I hit my goal and the doc doesn't think I will since I didnt hit it within that first year.
What have you all experienced??
Thanks!

I never heard of a doctor saying that if you didnt reach your goal weight in the first year that it was unlikely that you would. My surgeon said that anything over 60% weight loss of your excess weight is what he considers successfull. I am 2.5 years out and down to 170 from 340. My doctor is happy with my weight loss and so am I. I have about 15 pounds of extra skin so I take that into consideration. I know its much easier said then done but try to relax and enjoy that miracle that your growing!!

I was like you and lost weight during early pregnancy. About 20 pounds. It was awesome because I ate anything I wanted and it just kept falling off. Well by mid second trimester it started creeping back on and I am now almost 10 pounds bigger than my starting weight. My OB is very pleased and only counts it as a 10 pound gain, not a 30 pound gain. It has been seriously awful to watch the weight creep back on, but I know my body is doing what it needs to do for baby. I just daydream about how I am going to get back into the weight loss game after delivery! I was still about 50 pounds overweight at my lowest too. But I went from 390 to 220 at my lowest and am now 250. Since 220 was my original "ultimate goal weight" I'd say thats not too bad! And I hope to see 220 again quickly after delivery :)
Its so worth it!

I got pregnant 6 months post op and was still about 10 lbs from my original goal (which was just to get to a "normal" BMI).  I never lost any weight while I was pregnant, and gained a total of 18lbs.  After the baby was born, I lost the "baby weight" within 3 weeks.  Baby is now just about 9 months old and I'm just below my original goal without getting very strict yet.  I was just 2 years out on Sunday.  You can lose weight any time, it is all up to you!  Good luck!  Try not to worry about it too much while you're pregnant (I know, easier said than done).  For now, focus on having a heathy pregnancy, and worry about the weight later.
