Hi guys, I am new to this board, I used to post in BMI over 50 on OH often, but I haven't in a long time. Just wondering if there is anyone out there who has lost a great deal of weight (I lost over 300 pounds) and sucessfully breast fed. My breasts are wrecked from the deflation and I have never had a child, so I really don't kinow if it will be poossible. I am not sure there is a nursing bra that can "fix" the sad situation of my breasts and get them in a position to make nursing possible (It's really bad).
Are you pregnant now? I suggest you make an appointment with a lactation consultant prior to giving birth. Most OB practices have one on staff, or your hospital. You can talk to her about your concerns and she can go over things with you and help you better understand how breast feeding will work with your specific anatomy. I had a breast reduction 11 years ago, and then gained and lost over 100 pounds. So my breasts are weird shapped and empty too. I am going to meet with a lactation consult in the next couple of weeks to talk about the challenges I will face (mainly from my breast reduction.) But I think it will be very helpful to know more about how things may work and what to plan for etc. Good luck!
Hi there,
Even if they look like socks with rocks they will still do the job just as long as you got a quality nipple. With my first son, I had lost a total of 180lbs by the time i got pregnant and my titties were pretty sad. The pregnancy plumped them up a little but not like I would have hoped. However I was able to breastfeed him just fine and produce buckets of milk with a little help from my friends Fenugreek, Blessed Thistle and Mother's Milk More Milk Plus.
Cup that pancake like a C and go to down.
Best of luck,
Broom

Oh cool....thanks. That gives me hope. I am ten weeks preggo today. My good friends wife is actually a lac consultant, she is sending me some stuff to read about it. I was more worried about positional issues, I hadn't thought about not making enough milk...but I see now that can be an issue too. I am 4 years post RNY so I do not have too much malabsoption anymore. I met with Weight Loss Surgeon's NUT yesterday. She thinks I will do OK.
