Bah! The pressure of a name!

Like the others said before me, your child, your life, so you decide. While opinions are nice to have, they are just that, opinions. If they case you too much grief I say you keep the name private and between you and your husband and they can know the name when everyone else does. We stressed so much about finding a name for our son, and dealing with name him after this person, or that, or thats ugly, or hard to pronounce and then adding in rules of our culture and religions (Moroccan and Muslim) it was a hot mess! SO much so that my poor son did not even have a name for the 1st 2 days in hospital and after all was said and done we ended up choosing a name that was not on our list at all. And guess what, it IS hard to pronounce, no one liked it, and they DID give me grief. I will spare you the choice words I gave them and blamed on hormones! If they love me, and the child, they will respect the name, and if they dont like it, keep the opinion to themselves or have their own child to name. (Okay, off my soap box!) Good Luck with a name choice!

Thank you so much! Because of you ladies, I stopped feeling bad about potentially letting down my dad and stopped trying to please other people. DH doesn't want to carry on his full name and have a junior, but I still want to name our first born son (if it is indeed, a boy) after DH in some way, so I settled on James for a middle name.

And then we finally settled on Isaac today, but decided we liked the spelling Izaak better. So our final name choices are as follows:

Girl: Natalya Noelle
Boy: Izaak James

And if anyone else doesn't like them they can go kick rocks! LOL

There ya go! It's your baby, YOU are the only ones who have to like the name.
This is exactly why we don't tell ANYONE the names we're even considering! We actually don't even pick the name until the baby arrives, we just go in with a "short list" and then, AFTER the baby arrives, we kick out the visitors and talk things over before we decide. I don't feel like I can name someone I haven't even met!

We didn't pick a name until a week before my daughter was born but we decided early on that no matter what we decided, we weren't telling anyone until after she was born.  We didn't want anyone's opinions and we just wanted it to be a surprise to everyone but us.

Just keep it to yourselves...it'll be harder for people to offer their opinions after the baby is here and has the name.

I feel your pain! It seems we can't please anyone either! We had a hard time coming up with our boys name and we still aren't 100% sure, although DH refers to him by name every day so I'm afraid we may be sticking to this one. I already have a girl (17)-Taylor and a boy (11)-Hayden from a previous relationship, so I wanted something that sort of went with those names, but also wanted the input of DH since this is his first...I liked Bentley too-DH did not. I also liked Tristan, Ashton, Colton, Drew-all of which are pretty common these days and of course DH didn't like them. I asked him to give me 5 names..here is what he came up with ....George (that is his name), Georgio (omg no!), Joseph, Jonathan, Jerome..like seriously? How do you go from Georgio to Joseph or Jonathan??? I said HELLLL no to all of them and then agreed on George for the middle name. Our last name begins with a "D" and I like the sounds of names that have the same letter for first and last..so then he suggested DONOVAN..I said no...Then we talked about Dante, and then one morning it hit us...DEVIN...Devin George. Although we are not 100% on the spelling. I don't want the kid to have to correct everyone that calls him Dev-ON..which, I actually like the spelling of Devon better (still pronounced Dev-EN)...but I foresee too many mispronunciations...so Devin or Deven..just not sure which one is more appealing to the eye. My mom is stuck on Riley...and is referring to the baby as Riley and will not acknowledge Devin..lol...I'm having a really tough time with this name though..with my other 2 I had no problems and never looked back...I had the name Hayden picked out when I was pregnant with my daughter, but wanted it for a boy, not a girl..and then couldn't think of a name till I was watching Bold and the Beautiful in the hospital after I had her and saw Taylor..lol...then when I found out it was a boy with my 2nd he was always Hayden..aggghhhh I don't know...this whole name thing is stressing me out and I'm losing sleep ..lol..is that normal? haha...
