Bah! The pressure of a name!
So DH and I have been really struggling to come up with a boys name - still don't know if we're even going to need to use it, but knowing my luck, we will just because it's so dang hard to find a good one. With our first child, we had a boys name picked out from day 1, but struggled with a girls name and we ended up having a girl.
We ended up naming our daughter Carmyn (CAR-men) Rosemary. Carmen was DH's grandmother's name, Rose is DH's mom's name, and Mary is my mom's name. It's a beautiful name and I love it so much (and it fits her so well). Problem is now, that if we were to have a boy, I feel like my dad is expecting us to name him after someone on his side of the family and truth be told, that's NOT going to happen. I'm not going to name my child after someone I don't (or barely) know which is the case for most of his family and the rest of the name choices are not good. My paternal grandfather was Arthur Melvin and my dad is Wendell Duane - and I do NOT like any of those names. Besides the bad names, my dad wouldn't exactly be someone I'd want to name a child after. I love him and everything, but he's not the best person in the world and there are many things he does that I have to ignore or brush off just to continue having a relationship with him.
Our oh-so-perfect boys name that we had picked out when we were pregnant with our daughter? Everyone hates it. It's also a unisex name and I'm starting to feel like there are more girls than boys being named that name and I wouldn't want a son of mine to be picked on for having a feminine name.
I've come up with 3 new names recently and SOMEONE always has something to say. I'm starting to think that it's just going to be up to me and DH and everyone else can kiss off if they don't like it.
I'm not really looking for any kind of advice, I just needed to vent, I suppose. If you've read all of this, thanks for listening. lol

We had aleary picked out names, long before we were pregnant, because we TTC for soooo long!
Our girl name is Kayleigh (I know many people don't like this particular name but we have some stories that go with it, since is the name of a favorite song and my name is Keyla)
Our boy name is Lukas
Now the real debate is regarding middle names. My grandma passed recently and I would love to honor her by naming my child after her but her name was Miguelina (Migue for short) and so we are not sure. We were also thinking Victoria which is DH grandma's name.
For a boy, we like Bently, but a lot of people seem to hate it, so we are on the fence.
Good Luck to you!

I love the name Kayleigh. If DH didn't have a niece already named that it would be on our name list for sure :) I like Lukas and Bently, too.
Middle names are tough. haha.
If we have a boy, I would like use either DH's first or middle name as the boy's middle name, but DH doesn't want a Jr. since he's technically a junior himself and his dad has never been in his life. These are the boy's names I like (with phonetics)...
Jaedyn (Jay-den) Zephaniah (Zef-ah-ny-ah): Jaedyn is the one everyone hates and the one I think is being used more for girls than boys now.
Asher Joseph - Joseph is DH's middle name
Hunter Isaiah
Isaac James or Isaac Matthew - James is DH's first name
We were also tossing around Nathaniel James, but DH has cousins named Nathan and Daniel and Nathaniel is just a bit to close to both.
I'm someone who looks into the meaning of names, too. Which makes me REALLY love the following:
Jaedyn (form of Jaden) - "God has heard"
Asher - "happy, lucky, blessed"
Isaac - "laughing one"

People are always going to be opinionated, most of which you won't want to hear! We just tell people "we're not sure yet" so that we can avoid the conversation all together. Plus, we don't find out the sex til it is born and inevitably we end up with a baby that is a few days old and still waiting for a name that is "just right", lol. I find that once the name is attached to a preciousl little face, suddenly people's opinions are much more favorable!
Good luck with whatever you choose.

I know we would all love for everyone to loveeee the name we that pick for our children, but its never gonna happen. People are quick to give your their opinion, wanted or not. This is your child, you know what is best and if you want a name that suits anyone your poor child would be name less forever. My sons name is Elijah and many people including my parents were NOT fond of it, but it eventually grew on them. And now everyone including them talk about how he has the perfect name and how well it suits him. Bottom line, pick what you like. It doesn't matter what's popular or not or what's feminine or not, by the time he/ she is old enough they will be made you didn't name them blueapplegauntletpeach..... I know how stressful it can be, enjoy this time and I hope the name comes to you like it did for us congratulations on your pregnancy!
