Blood level tests in early pregnancy?
I just found out that my IVF worked and I'm pregnant. I have an appointment with my bariatric surgeon coming up (regular 2x/ year appointment) and I always get vitamin level blood tests. Are there any extra tests I should request now that I'm pregnant? I already have a pretty strict supplement routine and have been taking extra folic acid for months in preparation for my infertility treatment. Just want to cover all my bases. Thank you for any advice!
I had RNY and got preg only 3 1/2 months after surgery. The only lab I've had done was a CBC. I was checked once for anemia and had my thyroid levels checked due to my intolerance to cold. Other than that, nothing out of the ordinary as far as tests go. Nothing has come back abnormally. I still take all my vitamins, including a prenatal and extra folic acid.
Good luck!
Good luck!
congratulations! i'm not pregnant or officially trying until my surgeon gives me the green light (hopefully in september!), but went through IF treatments pre-op and am afraid i'm going to have to end up going back and doing IVF anyway. i had the sleeve so i know its a bit different, but was there any change in protocol from your RE because of your surgery? just wondering how it would affect all the meds, etc...
lots of luck to you!
lots of luck to you!
thanks for letting me know! mine is unexplained (originally misdiagnosed as pcos). did several IUI's with follistim and progesterone support with no luck so if we end up having to go back (if the sleeve did not magically make me fertile) then it'll probably end up being ivf. so glad it worked for you!!!!!
Your surgeon should have given you a list of labs that your family dr would need to monitor every 3mo-6mo-1yr. You would need to get a full set of those labs whi*****lude but not limited to (i'm sure i will forget something) CBC, CMP, vit D, PTH, Ferritin or Iron profile, B12 (very important), Folate(very important as well), pre-albumin (low levels indicate protein deficency), and Thiamine. These will need monitored each trimester and don't be surprised if you have to make changes to your vits and such. The only thing i had to increase was the freq of my B12 inj, they were moved to every 2wks and increased my vit D. They will also do the regular preg labs like TSH, blood type, STD panels, glucose, ect.... Good luck and congrats.
