first OB appt
thank you! i'm glad i'm not the only one who saw a red flag there. i mean, especially in the wording. bold, underlined, we will NOT under any cir****tances deal witha doula or brith coach. i mean...geez. it sounds like they don't want anyone fighting on the patient's behalf because when it comes time to pull the c-section card they can do it more quickly. my husband says its because they don't want too many cooks in the kitchen. but this is still something that concerns me. you ladies are right i will just have to ask out right what the deal is. next time i'll bring my husband for support. i'm a pushover who will back down easily so it helps to have him there. he doesn't care about making people uncomfrotable. which is another reason why i feel like i'll need an advocate in the room with me should i have a hospital birth. and if its not gonna be a doula it will be my husband and my mom.
Meli,
Write all your questions and concerns down and take the list right with you. Find out too, what kind of birthing center it is, some free standing (not associated directly with a hospital) birthing centers have only midwives delivering and if a problem arises transfers mom to hospital. (just another thought I had)
Bottom line, if you feel comfortable and the guy is doing a thorough job it's all good. The most important thing is that someone qualified, thorough and caring is in charge of you care. And, no matter what, keep being your own advocate!
