I have been taking a vitamin D supplement since before I became pregnant and still am, has helped keep colds at bay all season and all my vitamin levels and other blood work so far have been excellent.  Just my two cents worth...LOL

Yeah, I take the 50,000 IU dry D3 capsules from Vitalady, and they are the tiniest pill I take!

This is good advice for everyone!  Not just post WLS folks.  The British Medical Jrnl. just posted an article stating 33% of brits were Vit. D. deficient!  Our lifestyles, combined with our use of sunblock (which of course is absolutely essential) is decreasing everyone!

It's the only vitamin I've been depleted in since surgery ours is great though... it comes in drops you just put on your tongue!  It's also routine here to give it to infants.

How much Vitamin D should we be taking?  I know my Vitamin D was  low a few weeks ago at my last check up, so I started taking 2000 mg daily with light OJ (calcium/vitamin D fortified).  I'm wondering if this is enough.

Not likely. Even people with no malabsorption at all can take up to 4,000 IUs regularly just for normal health, not to try to come back from a deficiency. I think if you're taking less than 10,000 IUs, you're probably not going to make any progress in getting your level up. I take 50,000 IUs of D3 daily, and I only have about the same amount of intestinal bypass as a proximal RNY.
