I had a successful vaginal birth 3.5 weeks ago. I was also about 215 pounds when I gave birth, so technically still obese.
I ONLY had a csection with Tatum because I chose to have a csection. I have zero, like ZERO desire to shoot a kid out of my vagina. I had a super easy recovery from my csection 14 years ago, and well, I wasn't willing to deal with a VBAC. Plus, I have some scar tissue issues from other procedures and had planned on having a tubal as well (which I changed my mind on while on the table), and with my clotting disorder which effects my platelet function and clotting times, they were concerned if I did pop a bleed they would not be able to get to it fast enough.
I'll be having another csection with this baby, definitely a tubal, and hoping for a quick and smooth recovery that I've experienced with my previous csections.
I agree with the others on csections with WLS patients. I don't get the correlation between surgery on my stomach and the need for a csection. I know one of the Mexico surgeons has videos out where he states those same "facts" and it scares of a lot of his patient. I don't want to misquote, and I'm too lazy to go dig through youtube to find out which surgeon.

I had a csection with my first child so I always assumed I would have to have a csection with my second. Then I had RNY and I read that due to all of the scar tissue I would be more likely to have a csection. So when I got pregnant I talked to my OB about it and she said she would just schedule a csection. I have conflicting feelings about this though. The first time around I was so scared of the pain of a vaginal birth that I was happy with a csection. I also had the full 6+ weeks to take off work with pay so there were no worries. This time around I don't have those luxuries, so a vaginal birth and shorter recovery time sounds nice, but the whole scar tissue thing is scary as well. So I guess I am going to be going for csecion #2 late June/early July.
Good luck, I hear tha****er births are amazing.
