My doctor found microscopic traces of blood in my urine a few weeks ago and sent me for an ultrasound, i just found out today that I have a 2 cm kidney stone in my left kidney. I'm being referred to a urologist, but i'm in a panic cuz I'm told there is nothing they can do for me while pregnant and to just take advil...we can't take advil after RNY..DUH!
Right now I have no pain and wouldn't even know I had a stone, but I've just been reading online and they can be hell..My doc said this won't pass as it's too big so now I'm freaking out.

Has anyone else been though this?

I have had 15 episodes of kidney stones in the last 10 years.  I had 2 different episodes after wls.  I have had to have 5 surgeries for them.  If it tries to pass it will hurt and you will probably be in the hospital due to pain.  However the chances of it trying to pass now are not that great.  They will probably do a lithotripsy after you give birth.  A lithotripsy is where they send shock waves with a lazer into your kidney to break up the stone.  They put you to sleep to do this and then you wake up.  There will be a little pain but not much.  You need to drink lots of water!!!!!  Listen to the urologist because they will know what to do.  Good luck.

I was in the ER water day with severe abdominal pain, turns out I have 2 kidney stones....one is 2m and one is 7 cm. They are way to big to pass so they are going to go in thru my back and insert a tune into my kidney, break it up and remove it. he said that it was to large for the litrotryspy and going in vaginally would require more then one surgery so this is the safest way to get them out. They remove all of it during the surgery but leave the drainage tube in overnite. I am not cuyrrently pregnant so I dont have that to factor in but he did say thye would not pass on their own. he gave me percocet to take if it gets painful and if it does get stuck before the surgery date that they would put in a shunt. Also they said if I go to the ER for anything make sure that I ask for a urology consult because I know that I have the stones and they can cause issues that we may not think of as being related.
