I made a post a while ago expressing my concerns about possibly being pregnant and gaining wt when I still have more to lose. I am so very excited about being preggers, but im 1 yr post op on the 22nd. I started at 377 and weighed in yesterday at 231.7. Im still 50+ lbs from docs goal and am 4 wks along. I am terrified of gaining wt. Today I weighed in at 235. I gained 3.3 lbs in one day. The only thing I can think of is that its water weight. I always took hctz 25 mg, but now cant. I havent taken it for a few days so am curious thats what it is.
I just really need support and advice. I dont want to gain wt or very minimal. I dont want to end up like carny wilson and gain all this wt to just undergo surgery again. How did u all do it?

You did NOT gain 3.3 pounds of fat in one day - it's either jus****er or a normal fluctuation. I highly recommend you stop weighing yourself daily or you'll just drive yourself crazy.
I stayed low in carbs and high in protein and fat, and I LOST another 12 pounds in my first trimester. I focused on whole, healthy foods - meats, cheeses, non-starchy veggies, nuts, full-fat Greek yogurt, a little fruit...avoided all soy, artificial sweeteners, and processed junk.

I'm with Jill on this one. You need to either throw your scale out the window or hide it somewhere! No joke. You CANNOT weigh yourself daily...
And you didn't gain 3.3lbs in one day... its called water weight...
Eat healthy meals...
So far this is my second pregnancy and I have only gained 11lbs... and I'm 30 weeks. With my daughter I gained 10lbs my whole pregnancy and proceeded to lose an additional 40lbs after I had her.
Eat Smart. Follow the rules and you will do fine.
I also did prenatal yoga... through both pregnancies.

Try not to freak out about the weight gain. I had the same thing happen to me..I was gaining and I am certain it was from suddenly stopping my hctz once I got the positive test. I am now in the process of losing tha****er weight. Unfortunately our pregnancy didn't stick...=( So I can't tell ya that it all smoothed out once my body adjusted to not being on the diuretic. But I imagine it would have. Congrats on your positive test. Wishing you a happy and healthy pregnancy.
First of all, congrats! I'm right there with you, though--I'm only 14 months post-op and am 7 weeks along. I've been doing all this exercising (ran a 5K the day after I found out I was pregnant--I'd been training for it for weeks! I couldn't just back out!), tracking my food intake and making sure I stay under my caloric goal...and now this. Totally surprised! I was SO close to onederland that it almost breaks my heart to think I'll either reach it only momentarily or never see it for another couple years...
But I agree with the other posters--do NOT weigh yourself every day! That's a killer for both pregnant women and those trying to lose weight. Your weight fluctuates all the time. Only weigh yourself once (MAYBE twice) a week, always at the same time of day and in similar clothing. And stick to your post-op diet and you should be fine. Get your protein in. Eat smaller meals throughout the day. Keep track of your total calories--I don't know about you, but I struggle just getting in the amount required for someone my weight to lose about a pound a week, let alone maintain or the extra 300 you're supposed to have while pregnant! It's a mental thing, though. Just remember that you need to do what is healthy for your baby. You can do this.

I'm 8 weeks along and 6 years post op. I've been maintaining at 215ish for about 4 years now. Never met goal.
When I found out I was pregnant I started eating super healthy, plus I've had some morning sickness to deal with. I've lost 10 pounds in the last 2 weeks because of the healthy eating.
Don't freak out too much. Make the right choices for you and the baby and you might be able to healthily lose weight during the pregnancy. What I've been doing is counting calories using my Lose It app. I eat the recommended daily calories, plus 150 calories for early pregnancy. I'll up the calories as the pregnancy progresses.
