Gluclose Test Quetion
Honestly, if I was you and my doc wanted me to try, I would refuse. My doc did the test where you have your blood drawn fasting, go eat a regular sugary breakfast and come back 1 hour after your last bite of food. If they are really concerned, they can have you check your blood sugar at home for a week. The thing is, the test they want you to take most likely won't give them an accurate result anyway. And it's not worth how you'll feel afterwards. They can't make you tak it. If you talk to your doctor and offer other alternatives, they shuld be willing to try.

I declined the glucose tolerance test, and I don't even dump (I have a DS, not RNY). Why chance feeling like crap? I have a home glucometer and test my fasting and post-meal leves myself based on my NORMAL diet and activities. Chugging a glass of glucose is far from my "normal" routine, so why should I do it for a test? What would that really tell them?
I did the at home monitoring. Tested 4 times per day, fasting first thing in A.M., then 2 hours after 3 biggest meals of the day. I had VSG, don't dump, but I refused the test just because I think it's absurd to rely on 75gr of sugar being consumed in 3-5 minutes then having my blood drawn given the results can be inaccurate and have to go back for the 3 hour test. It wasn't fun poking myself, but I'm doing it again with this pregnancy.
