Any DSers who had complications?

I am just trying to find out more information on if any women who got pregnant before the 12-18 month window had any complications with their pregancies and what they were. We are trying to prepare incase my husband won't be here (he might be deploying) of having someone to help me. I'm not sure if hospitalizations are a risk, or something of the sort. I have a three year old and no support system at all out here and I'm scared that if something goes wrong I could be SOL with someone to watch my daughter. But if there aren't any real big complication concerns it will give me a little bit more peace of mind.

As long as you keep up with your supplements, your regular maternity check-ups, and your labs, I don't know of any major complications that would be as a result of having a DS. There are always things that can go wrong with any pregnancy, but, again, just keep yourself monitored by a good doc (OB or midwife or whatever). And maybe try to reach out to some other local women in your area for support - check for groups on craigslist, forums with groups by location and/or month you're due, meetup.com, etc.

I think I was about 17 months out from my DS when I got pregnant.  No complications.  A few labs were off, but nothing was way high or way low, except for ferritin, which drops even in a normal pregnancy.

If you had serious complications in your pre-op pregnancy, it might behoove you to see a perinatologist this time around, but as long as you are being monitored well and doing your best to get in enough protein and take your vitamins, you will probably have a good pregnancy.  Best wishes.
