Week 28 need to vent!

Happy Friday!

I am 28 weeks prego and had my blood sugar test on Wednesday.  The high risk ob-gyn said that it needed to be done.  SO to make a long story short, my husband and I took the day off work because they said that I should have someone drive me, just in case I got sick.  I got a call from the nurse today and said that my blood sugar was way to high.

I am not a doctor but HELLO, you tell me to fast, then you give me 75 grams of sugar and tell me to drink it in under 4 mintues.  OF course it is going to be HIGH.  So now I have to test my blood sugar four times a day and go back to the doctor on Monday and take 1/2 day off work.

I am willing to do anything to make sure my baby girl is healthy but this just seems stupid.  I didn't know if any of you had anything like this happen to you.  Thanks so much for listening to be vent!

BTW, I had RNY in July 2008 and it has been 10 1/2 years since my son was born.

I went through this too.  My 1 hour was 227 or so and the 2 hour came down absolutely normally to 76.  HgbA1c was also totally normal as were every one of the BS I checked at home.!!

My OB (whom I have since stopped seeing ) Insisted on labelling me as gestationally diabetic, which I am not!  Have it confirmed from my surgeon that the initial value is expected to go sky high in post RNY and confirmed from 2 other OBs.

It's so frustrating when they insist on managing us like everyone else. ...   Ask your surgeon to send him a letter!!!  But, go on and check it at home just to make sure it isn't truly elevated.  The research says it's best to check 2 hour post prandial... 2 hours after STARTING to eat a meal.

Best wishes to you!
