Hello!! I had RNY in June of 2010. I found out in December that I was pregnant and we are expecting our lil guy to get here the 5th of August. My husband and I are sooo excited!! I went through the first trimester with no problems, but about the 15th week of my pregnancy I started having really bad back pain and stomach pain. It mainly occured after I ate. My stomach would hurt and my back would ache so bad there was no way to get comfortable. I would move one way to relieve the pain and then shortly after I would end up having to move again. It's making for a lot of sleepless nights and an adversion to food. I am eating small meals, but it doesn't seem to matter. I just end up hurting again. It seems to be worse at the end of the day and once I finally get to sleep I do wake up from time to time to fight positional pain. I wake up and for the most part am fine and then after lunch I am back to the same pains again. I went to a bariatric doctor after three other doctors said that I had a stomach bug and she said that perhaps I had an ulcer but she would need to scope both ends to make sure that it wasn't a bowel issue either. I would have to be put under and there is risk to the baby. They put me on zantac and prilosec twice a day and said I should take stool softeners. The antacids seem to be helping.. but the pain is still there. I can't sleep, I can't eat.. Does anyone know anything about this? I'm so lost and have done all I think I can do. This has been going on for over 3 weeks now. I'm so exhausted!!

Sorry you're feeling so crummy! UGH! The only thing I can think of is maybe you need a chiropractor? After losing weight and then gaining baby, it causes quite a shift on our muscles and bones. Might be worth a call to ask some questions? I hope you get this all sorted, rots to not know and to not be able to rest. :(

*hugs*

Thank you. That might be a good idea. I was kinda thinking of going for a massage too since those really seem to help. A little self indulgence never hurt LOL

I agree with her a chiropractor is a good idea. have you been taking any digestive enzyme's or probiotics? that would help a little bit with making it easier to digest probiotics also help slip the chances of your baby being born with colic. if their is chances of you having ulcers a natural way to help ulcers is cabbage juice.. not the tasty-est thing in the world but it dose help heal them regardless of were the ulcer is in the digestive system. just some food for thought. good luck I hope you feel better!

Hmm.. I think I might try the cabbage juice thing. I'm always down for a natural remedy. I don't know how I feel about seeing a chiropractor. I've been to them before and most times just end up worse. I have thought about physical therapy though. I believe I will also look into the digestive enzymes and probiotics. I think I've been hesitant to look into those because I was not sure what was safe for the kid.. but heck.. that's what the internet is for! Thank you for your help!

How do you feel when you just drink a protien drink?
Either a milk based one or a nector based one?

It might be a solution, you still get nutrition  but hopefully without the pain.

Well, I have had horrible abdominal pain for about 2 weeks now- especially after I eat. Sounds very similar to you. I truly thought it was just horrible gas because it would eventually go away, and it helped when my hubby would pound on my back. yesterday, I went to the emergency room because of the pain. Felt ridiculous because I truly believed it was gas, but it turns out that it's my gallbladder. I'm also 10 weeks pregnant, so they are trying to wait until the 2nd trimester to have it removed for the baby's sake. Might consider getting that looked at. Good luck, and I hope you feel better!
Loving my new life!  I'm ever so grateful...
