New Here....
Hi everyone~
Well, I have been posting congrats on some posts lately. And I guess it's time to introduce myself.
I had RNY a year and half ago. Didn't make it to my goal..but am very happy with results so far.
So in August at my year appt with surgeon they said I could remove my iud whenever I wanted. That I had stablilzed enough that pregnancy shouldn't be a problem, if it occured. I never really wanted the IUD but it was the best choice given my history and my age. Been with my husband for 21 years this October. History of pcos and 12 years ago we went through serveral cycles of clomid followed by injectible fertility meds with no results...didn't even ovulate at all. Was given the option to have ovarian drilling or try IVF with a donor egg. We said no..not really what we cared to do. And went the adoption route instead. So, over the past 12 years we adopted 4 awesome babies! They are now 11, 10, 8, and 7.5.
So, we decided to remove the iud on January 5th. The gyn said come back in two months, if I didn't start as I would probably need provera to start my periods. Story of my life.. She also was not the least bit hopeful that I might get pregnant, given my history and age. I will soon be 44. So, I left feeling a little down..but okay, as we are very happy with the great kids we have. But I have always wished that I could give my husband a bio child (not that it really mattered to him and also wanted to have the experience of pregnancy for myself.)
So, fast foward to Valentine's Day...yep..positive test at home and blood test at dr.'s office. Needless to say we are shocked and thrilled. I am 6 weeks along. And hoping to find a doc who will see me before 12 weeks. Seems most the docs here wait that long. I have an appt. with primary doc tomorrow to see if we can find someone who will see me sooner.

Thanks Ochikezie! My surgeons office told me the same thing. The PA there told me that EVERY infertile WLS pt they have had has gotten pregnant..well that is the ones who have wanted too. I was afraid to get my hopes up that I might get to be on that list too. Was afraid I would be the failure again..ya know..
Welcome and congrats to you! What an awesome story! I hope you have a wonderful pregnancy and really hope you find someone to see you. Make sure they know a bit of your history (I'd ask to speak to a nurse when trying to make an appt rather than just the receptionist). Or, perhaps your primary care provider could call for you and have better luck!!!!!
Very best wishes to you!!
