trying
My husband and I are trying to get pregnant. I am a year out and have the go ahead from my surgeon to start trying. I have pcos and used fertility drugs in the past. I got pregant once and then had a miscarrage. I am just wondering if anyone else had pcos, weight loss surgery, and tried (or got ) to get pregnant. If so how long did it take you and did you have any complications or things you had to do differently? Thanks for the advice.
I haven't dealt with pcos, but I know having surgery and loosing weight helps a lot of woman become fertile again! Do you get a regular period now? If so, you probably wont have a hard time getting pregnant. I'm sure others will chime in that have more experience with pcos than I know. Best wishes to you!
I think everyone is different but I have pcos. I had surgery in 04. I wasn't trying to get pregnant at all. In 07, mind you my daughter was 12 at the time, I turned up pregnant. Then again, I wasn't trying and got pregnant 7 months later. Then again, I wasn't trying and 5 months after him got pregnant again. Never did I ever have a period. lol I finally had my tubes tied and NOW I have one every other month. Kind of made me mad. I went from eing told I would never have a child to 4 and hardly having a period to having them tied due to being told I would die and so would the baby if I got pregnant again, then having one every other month. Go figure. Hope it all works out for you. Oh yeah, never once did I have help from drugs either.
I have PCOS and was cleared at a yr out to start TTC. I started keeping track of my cycles, went and got an exam to make sure everything was healthy and my overies and uterus were looked at to see if there was anything that would need addressing that I had issues with before. Had to make sure I was ovulating because I hadn't without help in the past with PCOS. Got a healthy screening and Started on extra folic acid and a prenatal in Jan., got clearance in March and shockingly was pregnant by July.
It's not that simple for everyone as everyone's body is different. My PCOS responded really well to weight loss which I'm SO grateful for!
Good luck and I hope you get your BFP soon!

I agree that everyone is different. I don't carry a PCOS diagnosis on my medical record, but I've been told by more than one doc that it's a possibility (I had both severe insulin resistance and major ovarian cyst issues, which are both major potential symptoms of PCOS). I never tried to get pregnant prior to my WLS, so I don't have any basis for comparison. All I can say is that I got pregnant in my very first cycle after stopping my birth control.
