Hi folks.  So my OB said she would like to see me gain a total of btwn 20-30 lbs during this pg, but better to stay closer to 20 given that my BMI was technically still "overweight" when I got pg.  So I weighed myself this am... I'm up 8 lbs in my 18w2d of pg.  Not a disaster, but more than I would have liked at this point.  I have noticed that the sweets and carbs craving monster has won a lot lately.  So as of this morning, I'm on a carb cleanse.  I'm usually a big fan of the 5 day pouch test but can't do that while pregnant (ketosis = no bueno!)  So I'm sticking to plenty of protein and complex carbs (ie: veggies and fruits.)  Really focusing on no simple carbs (starchy and sweet crap.)  It's wild how much I tend to want to go to the simple carbs... a lot!

Staying strong this week.  My next OB appt is in a week and I'd love to drop a couple of these lbs that have found their carboliscious way onto my butt by then!  Wish me luck!

Oh... and we go for our detailed anatomy scan next monday morning... 6 more days until we find out if Baby M is a girl or a boy!  Yippeeeeeee!
Our little miracle baby boy is on his way!

I was 230 at the beginning of this pregnancy and at 17weeks I am up to 235.  The worst part is I gained 3 of those pounds this last weekend.  Bummer!!!  Dr said all was good and he was pleased.  Yes the Bad Bad Card Monster.  If I had the means to destroy him I would, cookies (ate for breakfast rushing out the door yesterday morning) and kinda sweet cereals (keeps me from getting constipated I don't eat that everyday just when I feel blocked up works like a charm and I don't dump(lol fitting word for constipation but I meant get sick) too bad from them)  I have also developed a bad bad bad craving for Ice Capps this week from Tim Horton's, I do get them made with chocolate milk to cut the fat, but I wonder what that chocolate mint shot is costing me in cals.  You're darned if you do and darned if you don't.  I do eat plenty of protien and fruit too, so not all has gone too pot!!!  LOL

There is no proof that ketosis during pregnancy is harmful in any way - in fact, MANY women are unintentionally in ketosis (those who eat very little due to lack of appetite or major food aversions, those who have major nausea/morning sickness and can keep very little food down, etc.), and things turn out just fine. I was likely in ketosis my entire first trimester and into my second, and there are zero concerns about my baby or me at this point (33 weeks), verified by multiple blood tests and ultrasounds (I'm monitored a little closely because of the type 2 diabetes diagnosis on my record even though it's "in remission" since my surgery). Ketosis is a natural state for the human body, and women had healthy babies for generations before carbs became a frequent component in the human diet.

I'm not suggesting you HAVE to go into ketosis or you shouldn't be eating things like fruits and veggies - just that ketosis is not something that should be feared   :)

Hello.  Did you have your ultrasound on the 13th?  I had mine on the 13th.  I replied to your other post I am having a boy too....due date of July 8th LOL.  But that will change.

Such a small world!!

I am gaining as well.  I don't have an accurate amount though because of all the bloating.  I need a new home scale so I can get an early morning reading and compare those.

Congratulations!!!!
