Hi everyone! I am 8 mo post RNY surgery and have been cleared to ttc, but I'm not ovulating! My periods were always regular before surgery and now they are every 2-3 weeks( for the last 2 mo) which means no ovulation my ob has done an exam and an u/s to find all is well. I want to know what's going on and why I am not ovulating. Anyone experience this? There have been no answers just that it must be a fluke and will work itself out...... I don't want to wait I want to know NOW lol.
Good luck to all you ttc
Good luck to all you ttc
Maybe that is your body's natural way of telling you that its not ready to carry a baby at only 8 months post op? Even if your doctor cleared you, sometimes mother nature knows best. Maybe closer to 12 months post op things will be working better? If not, there are reproductive treatments available. Do you have access to reproductive specalist? Good luck to you.

I do have access if needed, although I hope that won't be the case. I was able to concieve before surgery and its hard for me to believe that my cycles are soo messed up when other ppl become regular. The infertile become fertile so does that mean the fertile become infertile ? Ugh I'm soo annoyed and aggrevated! I want to concieve closer to 12 mo but if my cycles r so messed up now I don't see how they will "fix" themselves by then. Just feeling dejected....

Has your OB confirmed that you're not ovulating? Many women do NOT have 28-day cycles - some are longer and some shorter, but it doesn't mean there are no eggs being released. If my 7th grade health class memory serves, a period is typically caused by the body essentially "flushing" out an unfertilized egg and the uterine lining upon which it was not implanted, so I would think a period = ovulation.

She said I could do opks to see if and when, but in her practice most ppl with frequent periods like mine (16days) means no eggy. The body is trying to clear things out in hopes to get ready for an egg. I guess I will wait til after this months period to try opks. Apparently bc the cycle is so short it doesn't give the lining enough time to build up to where it needs to be to support an implanting egg......thus resulting in a miscarriage. I'm praying and for now that's all I can do
i didnt have a peroid for a wile before surgery and was infertile but after surgery my body was trying to catch up by having heavier shorter cycles. they did even out eventually and was able to get pregnant. Do give up your body is going threw a lot of changes you might just need a little more time to balance out a little.
I know what your saying prior to surgery my cycles were always the same like clock work. I got preg just thinking about it even on BC. Had surgery waited 18mo and began shortly after i began trying my cycles got all screwed up. after about 5mo of craziness period every 2-3wks i went to OB about my problem He said your 31now (thanks didn't know that was OLD) and your cycles may change. Different doesnt always mean abnormal it may just be different. We sat down and counted my cycles out and gave me a chart to use to document menstration. Well I never had to use it cause the next month with proper calculation got pregers. So, bottom line is you need to calculate you cycle if you have a 3 wk cycle you will ovulate anywhere from day 9 to day 11. If you want you can get an OPK to check for sure, but if your waiting for day 14 you missed it. Good luck it took me a total of 7-8mo trying, i know its frustrating.
