Surprise!
Where to start... Well, I am only 3 months post RNY. I know I was warned about beecoming fertile after surgery but I just assumed after trying for 4 years with my fiance and never having a positive once because I was diagnosed with PCOS that it would still be difficult for me to get pregnant. Well they are not kidding at all when they say you will become suddenly "regular" and fertile because I got the surprise of my life last Thursday. My period was late by 6 days so I figured what the hell I'll take one of the tests I already had from pre surgery attempts and got a big fat positive. I go see my gynecologist next week as well as my surgeon and dietician. To say I am scared is an understatement.. I have waited so long for this I just want everything to be okay and go smoothly. Does anyone have any tips on what I should be doing this early in a pregnancy, my PCP estimated I am 4 weeks and 5 days. I know I need to continue on my vitamins, maybe up my protein intake? Is it possible to have a safe and healthy pregnancy this early post op? And once I have the baby will my weight loss slow down? Am I even going to be able to gain weight this early? Whew my head is spinning!
Yep, its hard to believe the warnings when you have PCOS and have tried for so long. I still had to go through fertility treatments to get pregnant even after WLS... but it seems the majority of people are easily able to get pregnant after losing the weight. It sounds like you are taking this seriously and have appts set with your doctors. Good luck. There are others who have been in your shoes and been ok.
Dont up your protien you dont want to go into ketosis wile you are pregnant my dietrician had me go back to a well rounded diet. She even gave me a list I had to get x amount of each food group and i stayed clear of fat, processed food and sugar. iv only gained 10 pounds and some how managed to lose inchs. the baby is healthy and doing great. we get to meet her in a little over a week so i will be able to tell you more then about how shes doing. if you can i would call and talk to you dietrician before your appointment so that you can atleast start any changes to your diet that you will need to make.
