OMG, OUCH!
Liam is 11 weeks old and I've felt the whole time like my episiotomy was not healing right. I called the doc today and they had me come in to get things checked. She said there was just one little spot that didn't look like it was healing, and that she could cauterize it in order to speed up the healing process. Since my poor husband is forgetting what sex is, and I'm hoping to be able to have more kids eventually, I thought this would be a good option. She said "this probably won't really even hurt much"... WRONG! Wow, that hurt, I can't even sit down right now! I feel like I just had sex with a hot curling iron! Ouch! I'm hoping this doesn't last long and that maybe I'll even heal eventually! Ugh!
The same thing happened to me except I had an internal tear w/ stitches inside. At my 6 week post par. visit my OB had to cauterize my tissue as well. He told me to wait another 2 weeks to have intercourse to make sure it would heal up well. We had not had any intercourse as well since 1 week before I had our daughter.
I didn't notice any puss or weeping from the cauterizing. Although mine was internal and there was the normal discharge and spotting from just having my baby so I may have not noticed any anyways. Mine stung quite a bit and I had to use the little water squeeze bottle of warm water all over again for about a week after urinating. It was tender to sit so driving killed me. I will tell you that the pain went away after about 4 days and after that it was just mostly tender for about a week. It healed up fine. My OB had used a numbing liquid on the site before he cauterized my tear so I didn't feel any pain until about half an hour after the procedure. I took my left over Hydrocodone from after delivery to help with the discomfort. I did hear that the healing is worse for an actual episiotomy rather than a tear, not sure why? I had put in my birth plan that I would rather tear some then to have the OB cut on me. This next baby we will be having in July I'm going to ask the same.
