OK I am a little over 18 months and my weight was fluctuating anyway but this week I have gained 3 pounds!!! In a week!!! I am barely 6 weeks pregnant. Im still running every other day, calories have been around 1400 a day, but the only thing I have done different is eating crackers. I know crackers are a carb but I have been so nauseaed throughout the day and its the only thing that helps.

So Im wondering what are you eating and how many calories a day to you consume? I know gaining weight is part of being pregnant but not this early out.

With both of my post-op pregnancies, I gained most of my weight in the beginning and then slowed down in the middle and gained a little more at the end. However, I did end up gaining 30-35 with my 1st post-op baby and 40-45 with my last post-op baby. I'm almost 8 years out from surgery and not sure if that had anything to do with more weight gain than "normal" for weight loss patients. It seems most of the ladies don't gain that much, but I have seem some that have and gained more....but most don't gain that much! Best wishes!

Having crackers to help with the nausea is not going to hurt you - unless you're eating a whole box each day.  Don't worry about the beginning.  Your body goes through some big changes in the beginning.... extra blood being produced and you may bloat with water retention.  Make sure you are drinking plenty of water and make sure your sodium count is nice and low.  Don't worry about it.  And when you see your OB, bring it up to them.  They are really the experts.

Chances are it's bloating, fluid and water retention.

I have been eating like....lets just say my eating habits during this pregnancy are nothing to be proud of......I'm still not eating as much as I did pre-surgery.....but I'm sure my calories are higher then they actually need to be.  I haven't gained a whole LOT of weight.....I'm almost 34 wks and I'm right at around 15lbs....with 2 more weeks to go (I'm delivering early due to health reasons NOT related to WLS).....

I feel like I've developed a LOT of bad habits though.....and hoping after baby comes some of my restriction comes back.  Dumping has gotten pretty bad while pregnant (I can't eat more then 13grms of sugar at one time...or else.....) but still.....there are other ways to sneak those calories in!!

A few crackers are not going to ruin you...and with 3lbs...it's more than likely jus****er weight....not actual fat gain.

Thanks Guys!! I'm so worried about gaining weight. I look at people who have had the RNY and had kids and have gained all thier weight back. I just wanna be careful and healthy. Thanks again!!

I'm 10 weeks and have also gained 3 pounds- by 9 weeks. Haven't gained any more. My nausea is so bad I can barely stand it. I do ANYTHING to ease the nausea. Congratulations to you!!! I wouldn't worry much about the weight gain. After the pregnancy, with the wls tool, should not be any trouble to lose the extra weight  :)

I'm 14 weeks and was very nauseated up until about 9 weeks so in the last 5 weeks I've gained 8-10 lbs when I could start eating again. And I craved sugar like mad. Since surgery I haven't been able to eat cookies and ice cream and for the last month, it's all I wanted. Turned out I had seriously low blood sugar. But in the last week or so, my tolerance came back down and I haven't gained anymore weight yet. I heard a while ago that you can eat almost how you did pre-op when pregnant and after giving birth, you go back to being post-op again. It's like our bodies adapt to what it knows it needs during pregnancy.
