Ok let me start off by saying this is a total surprise! I went to the doctor Dec 27th to talk to him about getting an IUD and he said yes I could but he wanted me to wait untli 3 days after I started. OK no problem but then I never started and my BFF said you should have started already but Im really irregular so I didn't think anything of it well 2 weeks later I called the dr to explain something was wrong because I havent started and of course they told me to take a test. It came back positive!!! They did a transvag ultra sound and didn't see anything but said its probably too soon so I go back next week.

I am 18 months out but still really scared about being pregnant!! Im worried about gaining weight (just this week I gained 2 pounds) my last pregnancy before RNY i gain 65 pounds. I also had gestational diabetes last time. Im just scared about not being healthy enough to have a healthy pregnancy. How did you guys do it? Thanks!!

Might make you feel a little better but my Dr gave me an OK at 19 months.Get all your labs done you should be fine.I gained weight but with work and going back to good eating habits it came off.Best of luck to you and congrats.

May my Angles rest in peace.....

Don't fret... I am 25 weeks and have only gained 14 pounds. I had gestational diabetes too last time and this time I have been fine so far. I test my sugar and it's 70-72 fasting and in the 80's after meals. I am having an easier time of it so far, honestly. I had morning sickness pretty bad so didn't gain much in 1st tri. I have found my eating habits haven't changed much and baby is growing fine so I'm not worried at all about that.
It's defenitely different this time around, but 99% of it is much better than my pre gastric bypass pregnancy. Make sure you talk to your surgeon and then find an OB who knows and supports that you have had surgery.

I'm 30 weeks along and have gained about 16 pounds from my pre-pregnancy weight. Keep eating well (limit junk, limit carbs, get plenty of protein, drink plenty of water), and keep taking vitamins (though be cautious especially with vitamin A if you are taking a separate vit A supplement, but I know most RNYers don't take those). If you haven't had a full set of labs run in the past 2-3 months or so, go get a full set drawn to see where you stand nutritionally to see if you should adjust any of your supplements.

Other than the labs and more supplements than a "normal" pregnant woman, I haven't done anything differently.

I'm surprised they couldn't see anything on a transvaginal ultrasound; when I was just 8 weeks along, they could see the baby on just a regular abdominal ultrasound, and it sounds like you're at least 6 weeks along now (since it's been at least 2 weeks since your missed period). Do you have another ultrasound scheduled (I know you said you "go back" next week, but didn't know if that was for an ultrasound)? Did they do a blood test to confirm?

Thanks for the advise...Im just a nervous wreck :) anyway yes he did a blood test to confirm the pregnancy and he said I could just ovulate late which my other 2 that is what happen. He's going to do another ultrasound next week to confirm...this also scares me because it could be just an ectopic pregnancy but I find out for sure next Thursday.

Thanks again!!

I didn't have a normal cycle when I got pregnant, either - like you, I was waiting and waiting for my period to start, and I was frutrted because I'd spotted a few times, but never got a full TOM. When I started having sore breasts, noticing appetite and taste changes, and having a few bouts of nausea, I figured out why! Based on my last period, I should have been about 10.5 weeks when I had my ultrasound, but I ended up being only about 8 weeks, so I hope you're just earlier along than expected, and everything else is fine  :)

I had a transvaginal ultrasound around 6/7 weeks, and they barely saw the baby, doc said if I had been there 2 days sooner, he could NOT have seen the baby. So excited for you. Congratulations!!!!
