Another place to look in stores is at the petites and look for the same things I mentioned above.  I'm sure you find some pieces that will work!

I love the baby doll top look on her, I think dresses look really nice on her too with the empire waist. She is more of just a stretchy pants and T shirt kind of girl though. She's very picky and won't even try certain things on cause she doesn't like them. (Opinionated already ) Right now we tried on Jc Penny girls plus and ended up having to get her an XXL in some shirts which is a size 20. We also get capri stretchy pants and the length is usually just right, she refuses to wear jeans cause they hurt her belly so that makes it a little easier.

My step-son is rather chubby (5yo and wears 8-10-12's in husky) and I get a lot of his stuff at Kohl's and Wal-mart.  I know that boys are different than girls, but you might get away with getting some boys pants in husky.  Of course we have to get his pants hemmed (thank goodness my mom is a seamstress), but he does wear a lot of sweatpants that are either hemmed or rolled up.

Like the PP said, baby doll type shirts would probably be a good choice are far tops are concerned.

Good Luck!

I never thought about checking out the boys department. You would think they would have more room in the belly. Girls shirts are made so form fitting now days.

I was a chubby kid and tween and used to have to get my pants in the boys section! It seems different but wouldn't hurt to take a look! I went through phase at exactly the same age your daughter is where I refused to wear jeans too because they were so uncomfortable, just stretch pants... They make adults stretch jeans now, I wonder why they arn't easier to find for munchkins??

If you have a Gordman's near you, they also have a girl's plus-size department

I have never heard of that store so I don't think they are out here.

I have little boys, so not much experience with buying girls' clothes, but my first thought was that dresses are much more forgiving as far as being "too long" because it sounds like your daughter needs the width of the larger size, not the length.
I often see really cute girls' dresses at places like Target that are jersey-type material (like tshirtish material) that could work over some cute leggings. You can find really cute stretch-pant-type patterned leggings in juniors or women's sizes that might fit her better and still be cute for a young girl.  Plus, dresses worn over leggings are very "in" right now!
Good luck.... I can sympathize. I have one son who is 7 yrs old but already almost 100lbs and over 4.5 feet tall! My other son is small and petite for his age.... so I can't win.... if it fits my big guy, it's gonna be too long and if it fits my little guy, it's gonna be too short!

Yes, it's hard and I think dresses are the most flattering too, but she is already into the stage where she has her own opinions on what she wants to wear, so that in itself is a challenge too. She is about 90 lbs and also about 4 ft 8 inches, and my 19 month old is the opposite weighing in at only 20 lbs and all her pants are too short so I understand about the opposites with the siblings.
