first time mom question??
I am a first time mother and my son will be 4 months old on the 27th of jan!!! I am his sole care giver. I haven't been away from him for more that 2 hours since he has been born. is it normal to get a little stir crazy?? in my case i would guess so. I am currently on unemployment so I am at home all day alone with my lil man. of course the weather here is cold so I can't get out and walk and I can't afford a gym membership so I don't know what to do for exercise. I am trying to take online classes and they are tough this semester and its not easy to write a term paper with a lo. So I was just wondering what or rather how the rest of you get through the day? How do get time to do what you need t do? what exercises are you working in? I had the rny in june of 2010 and lost around 115 pounds and was about 30 pounds away from my goal weight when I got pregnant. I was horrible during my pregnancy as far as my eating goes because I didn't have the dumping syndrome and could eat anything and craved big macs all the time!!! plus the amount I could eat increased however I only gained around 30 pounds and have lost most of it but am still able to eat sweets and larger portions. I was just wondering how I kick this and get back on track??? any suggestions would be great!!!!
I wold totally get stir crazy too! Is there a mall close by where you can walk? That wold be my suggestion. Is there anyone that lives nearby who you would trust to watch your little one? Even if it was just for a few hours so you can get a term paper done it would be worth it. You would be surprised at how many people are truly willing to help if we let them.
As far as the eating goes, I hear you! I was in my 1st trimester during Christmas fo my first pregnancy so I had morning sickness and not a lot of desire to eat a bunch of junk. This time around I have eaten way too much junk. I have a doctor's appointment today and I am terrified to be weighed! We always think we'll deal with it after the baby is born, but it's not easy. I wish you the best of luck! I am interested to see the other suggestions you get.

Mommy to 2 of the most beauiful little girls in the whole universe and still in love with my hubby of 8 years. LIFE IS GOOD!
sometimes it just comes down to putting the baby down and doing it...if your worried about him crying while doing it- sometimes it happens...or wear him...get a carrier... that was your hands are free... how cold are you talking? to cold to bundle him up and put him in a stroller? .. what about malls?
I think walking in the malls is a good idea. Here, where I live (Austria), we don't shy away from going out in the cold (unless it's extreme cold), you can bundle that baby and yourself up and get some fresh air. It's good for both of you! Wrap him in a snow suit and a nice blanket and stick him in the stroller and he'll be snug as a bug.
And, don't be afraid to put him down for longer periods of time so you can do your online stuff. I used to put my daughter in her bouncy seat or on a gymboree and she'd play up to half an hour around that age.... it's good for baby and good for mommy!
I too would feel totally stir crazy... another though is a play group or mommy baby group... also check your local library for different activities. They usually have great activities and they're free!!
Best wishes to you!

Like others said, walking the mall or finding play groups (MOPS and I believe your breastfeeding....so breastfeeding support groups LaLeche (spelling???) will give you an out. When I had just one little one at home, I liked to do my shopping during the day and often times would just go out and look what was in the stores. Do you belong to a church? You could go to some Bible study or start up an exercise program (that is what got me on track after my 3yr old was born)...plus they offered daycare and it was only for about an hour! Can you try Zumba? You can buy packages that are 1, 2 or more times a week and the cost isn't to expensive and you don't have to pay a membership fee....plus I heard it's a ton of fun and burns over 800 calories each class!!! I plan to do this very soon!
As far as getting back on track, you can do the 5 day pouch test (at least I think thats what its called). I've been trying to get myself back on track as well and started by increasing my water and drinking protein shakes and sticking to more low carb/high protein foods....but I'm not going to give up the foods I love....just eat less and limit how much/often I have them! I have around 30lbs to loose to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight. I have lost 4lbs already since I did the above. Best of luck to you!
