Weight Loss after Pregnancy

Hello everyone!  I had the VSG August 4, 2008.  I lost 85lbs and weighed 170 before I got pregnant.  I delivered my baby boy June 28, 2011 via csection, he is 6 months old now.  I gained about 50lbs while pregnant   But I immediately lost 30lbs only 3 weeks after delivery.  My questions are......
*Has anyone experienced or is experiencing slow weight loss after pregnancy?
*Did anyone stretch their pouch?
*And, has anyone had a revision done after VSG and pregnancy?

I know I should give myself at least a year post-pregnancy but I am so obsessed and worried about getting this weight off that I feel crazy at times!  Help!

Slow down and breathe.  A revision for only 20 lbs might not be wisest choice - especially with a baby to care for.  Remember your recovery from your WLS?  Imagine having to recover from another WLS and have a baby to care for under a year old!  NOT a good idea.

I suggest just going back to the WLS basics.  Even though you had a VSG, I highly recommend trying the 5 Day Pouch Test.  It was originally designed for RNY patients, but I have found with my clients (I'm a bariatric coach and I work with all types of WLS patients) that Banders and VSG patients absolutely can find success doing the 5DPT.

Go to:  www.5daypouchtest.com for more details on the plan.  It's basically a 5 day diet plan that majorly kick-starts your healthy WLS eating lifestyle.  It's basically 5 days of pretty much just protein - walking you through the 4 major post-op diet phases (starting w/liquid only for 2 days.)

Here's the thing about the 5DPT:  it's a kick start and just that.  Take the time during those 5 days to notice your behaviors and thought patterns around food, your cravings, and habits.  Then after the 5 days, make sure that you maintain a healthy WLS lifestyle and always incorporate good exercise.  Most people lose between 6-10 lbs during those 5 days because it is usually a shock to the system.

Good luck to you and keep breathing.  You still have a great tool in there, you just need to tap bac into how powerful it really is.

I can totally relate. I just delivered 9 weeks ago. I lost 140lbs, and gained 35lbs in the pregnancy and lost 22-23lbs the first 3-4 weeks. I had to stop breastfeeding due to Tatum having protein and lactose intolerances and my losing came to a complete stop. It doesn't help that the holidays have hit me hard this year and we traveled out of state which blew my normal eating routine. I have 12lbs to get back to my maintenance weight, but the scale isn't budging. BUT, I do know how to lose weight, and it's back to basics.

I agree with Maryn as well, and while I refuse to do the liquid portion of the 5day pouch test, I will do a major carb detox and go back to my 4 meals per day, no snacks and focus on protein and clear fluids. I just refuse to torture myself with liquids only.

I posted a couple of weeks ago about how my body shape has changed, I'm wearing bigger sizes, and my skin being all stretched out again after having a baby. My restriction is just the same as it was pre-pregnancy, and I still have great restriction with dense proteins.

Thank you both for replying!  I will try the 5 day pouch test and see what happens.
