14 months vs. 18 months

I had RNY and I know that after 18 months I will fully absorb my calories again and that would be a good thing during pregnancy.  My doctor, however, gives the green light to get pregnant at 12 months. I am a teacher and the best months for me to conceive would be around my 14, 15 and 16 month out period.  How dangerous to mine and a babies health would it be to attempt to get pregnant at either the 14th, 15th or 16th month out?

I had my surgery June 30, 2009 and was cleared to start trying at 15 months. Started in August and got pregnant in December. Had a very healthy and big baby girl in August. Good luck!

I was cleared at 15 mos post op to start trying.  That being said, it took me a year to get pregnant (after 2 miscarriages.)  If your doctor gave you the green light to start TTC at 12 mos, then you should be fine.  And btw... after RNY, we NEVER fully absorb the calories and nutrients that we eat.  That's a fact of life we get to live with forever.  It just means we get to be rigorous with our nutrition and vitamin intake during pregnancy.  Don't worry... you'll be fine.
