good news

First of all I want to thank all of you *****sponded to my last post. i couldn't respond or even come on here because i went through a few days of depression and i couldn't sustain any kind of conversation. i was more devastated then i thought.

but today i went to my endo and here's what happened:

they took my blood to check my levels. they'll be calling this afternoon with the results. my doc says because the pregnancy ended so early on that it was a chemical pregnancy. and because there was no sack or anything that i wouldn't have to worry about waiting months to pass it or getting it surgically removed. that it should pass like a normal period. i'm already getting cramps and brown discharge. so thats a good sign. he says they're going to continue taking my blood till my levels go down and when it gets to zero (which he says i'm already pretty close so it might only be another week) then they'll wait 14 days and have me come in for another mid cycle ultrasound to see if my eggs are ripening on their own. but that we can basically start trying right away (hallelujah!) and this next cycle should be a really fertile one. however, he is suggesting i go on chlomid. which i was disappointed to hear because i thought my body was doing ok on its own. but he says its basically an insurance policy. i could get pregnant on my own but it could take longer and the chances of me having a full term pregnancy are greater with the chlomid. i'm going to read up on it a bit first before i decide. i like that he's giving me info but also options and not pressuring me. i love my endo. but listen, if this means me getting pregnant and keeping it i'll do whatever i have to do.

you know, no one wants a miscarriage. but i would say the silver lining here is that, at least it happened early on. if it had been later in the pregnancy it would have been waaay more devastating and it would have been harder on my body and taken longer to try again. so right now i'm very happy. this is all fantastic news. i have hope and i don't have to wait months and months. because let me tell you, even if it was only for 3 days, i LOVED the feeling of being pregnant. hot and cold flashes, being sleepy, nausea (slight, never bad), i ******g loved every second of it. and i want to feel that again. it was the happiest i've ever been. and i have so much hope. i got a taste for it and i want more! and my doc is very optimistic.

so from what i've heard from you ladies the side effects of chlomid are like...serious mood swings and bad cramps. anything else i should know?

Meli- stay strong!  It's great that you can start trying again right away.

I only did one cycle with Clomid and my only side effect was some hot flashes as night and some cramps- nothing to bad. I didn't have any mood swings (or at least that's what my DH said).

Sorry to hear about your loss.
I took Clomid and had cramps and VIOLENT mood swings!
So much so that we got off it after the 3rd month.
Just prep your spouse and know what to look for.
Good luck!

I have never had to take Clomid, but I just wanted to wish you the very best of luck! My best friend lost a baby (blighted ovum) and got pregnant the very next month and that baby is a very smart and healthy 2 year old now! My fingers are crossed for you!!!

Meli, I'm so sorry about the MC.  I didn't see your last post.  But yes its good that it happened sooner rather than later.  I had 2 MC's in the past year (4 wks, and 7wks.)  It's not easy at all, but you really do seem to be ok.  Good for you.  Yes, the cramping and bleeding will take its time to move though.  You will be pregnant with your child soon.

I was on clomid for 3 cycles before my IVF.  I didn't have cramping, but I had crazy arse emo days.  Oh, and I did a little bit of head-biting-off, but they deserved it! lol  But luckily, those emo days only lasted during the 5 days per cycle that I was on it.  I will tell you that the emo effect of clomid is absolutely NOTHING compared to the massive hormones/meds they put me on for the IVF.  that was crack a$$ crazy! LOL

Good luck to you and DH as you move forward.  Be gentle with yourself and make sure you are taking iron over the next few weeks so you do not become enemic as you shed the excess lining (bleed.)  It will probably feel like a very very heavy period.  During my 2 MCs, I was exhausted and had bad cramping.
Our little miracle baby boy is on his way!

Oh Meli! I didn't see your last post either. I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I am glad you are looking on the bright side of things. All 3 of my m/c's were early on as well and I am so thankful I have not had to experience one further along. It's tough enough when they are early. I can't imagine it being later on.

So chlomid...I actually didn't have any side effects. So maybe you'll be one of the lucky ones that doesn't. I hope so! I took chlomid before WLS and it helped me get pregnant the first time. I still miscarried, but I don't think it had anything to do with the cholmid.

It is so good that you are being optimistic. But make sure you also give yourself permission to grieve. It is very difficult to go through a huge bout of happiness, then a huge let down in only a matter of days. It is emotionally exhausting (at least it was for me). Then you add on top of that the physical difficulties of a m/c.

I am so glad you get to try again so soon! Please keep us posted!

I was on clomid when I got pregnant with oth my girls. My RE actually said it would help with my egg quality and powerfully decrease my risk of m/c, since I have pcos and it is an elevated risk.
I am also  so happy to hear he is watching your levels down to zero. My dr didn't do that the one time and I had a complicaton and it was months before they realized my numbers were not going down.

Good luck and I hope for a wonderful sticky bean next time!
