Thoughts on this?

Last week I had that "I'm about to get sick" feeling all week.  The worst I ever got was a scratchy throat in the morning and stuffy nose at night.  I think I've officially beat it without ever getting full blown sick.  Now, my two year old is starting to show symptoms of getting my "cold".  I really don't want her to get sick for the holidays!  So, I'm wondering if there would be any benefit to slipping some of my breast milk into her milk cup tomorrow.  I figure that she is presumably working on fighting the same cold I just beat and would therefore have produced antibodies against.  Any thoughts on whether or not this would help her fight it off?  Also, do you think that the antibodies would still be effective in frozen milk?  Just tossing around some ideas to help her avoid a full blown cold.  If freezing my milk would make the antibodies ineffective I don't think I could pump enough tomorrow to help her out without starving her brother (he has first dibs, lol).  Just wondering what you ladies think.

I have no idea if that would be effective or not but why not give the baby the frozen milk and give her the stuff that you could pump today, you could make "magic" hot chocolate out of it.

Just another though any antibodies that you developed to the cold would only be in milk that was made after you were sick, not prior.

Thanks for the link.  I had a feeling some or all of the antibodies would be lost in the frozen milk.  I don't want to take away any fresh milk from the baby (i.e. giving him the frozen stuff) because it is more important to me that he get the antibodies to help fight any germs coming from his sister since my toddler can fight this on her own if needed.  I was just thinking it would be good to help her out if possible.

It just says that some are lost so i cant hurt to give her some if you have the extra to spare. Its not gonna make her sick, I dont know if I would tell her cause she might think its gross but honestly if you have the extra to spare it cant hurt.

Give her what you  have in the freezer. It wont hurt a bit and will most likely help :) I read a story years ago in Compleat Mother of a woman who was feeding her husband breast milk in his cereal every morning. He had cancer of the mouth..HAD..he lived and she helped him heal his mouth. She only told him after, but I am guessing he became a believer on the awesomeness of the milkies!!

I have used breast milk for burns, sunburns, acne, scrapes, eye and ear infections. :) You could also bump up her vitamin d &c and give her liquid echinacea drops in juice. Good Luck avoiding the cold. I can deal with a cold..it's the stomach flu/traveling that gives me the chills!

Colds don't bother me... however, my daughter takes after my freak of a husband who throws up every time he gets post nasal drip!  UGH!  When she has a stuffy nose we have to walk on eggshells because any time she starts coughing, laughing too hard, or crying you can count on her throwing up.  There is nothing I hate more than puke!!! I didn't have much in the freezer, but I gave it to her with dinner, we'll see if it helps at all.

I sure hope your daughter and hubby stay nice and healthy this holiday season :)
