Nervous!
So I have a third trimester growth scan today (my OB does them standard on all WLS-mamas to check for IUGR)... I've been worrying all week that they're going to tell me that the baby is too small for gestational age.
I'm 7 months pregnant and I feel like my belly is so tiny still... I was ENORMOUS by this stage with my first 2 (pre-WLS) babies! Plus, I lost about 16 lbs in the first trimester and the scale hasn't budged ever since. I have read that I should have gained at least 15-20 lbs by now (7 months pregnant)
.... Has anyone carried small and not gained weight, but had an average-sized baby? My first 2 were both 9lbs on the nose at birth and I'm worried I'm gonna have a 4 lb baby this time!

I was pretty small but I got pregnant just 5 months after my surgery so that could have been the reason. My son was born 3 weeks early and weighed 5 lbs 4 oz. The Doctor delivering him said he was the perfect size and my pediatrician said they like to see em a bit bigger. In fact, the hospital were I gave birth said they normally don't see babies that size as they are almost always flown to a bigger hospital due to not being able to eat, but my son had no problems there. All the nurses called him peanut. I did have to watch his weight carefully since all babies lose weight after they are born) and if his weight got to low he probably would have been admitted back into the hospital. I religiously got up every 2 hours to feed him and he gained weight. Once he reached the 8 lb mark I was able to relax a bit.
Try not to worry about it, (I know that's easier said then done). Think about the girl who was born the size of a cell phone and now she is graduating college....

Hey V... I hope you've had your scan already and I can't wait to hear how it went. Keep breathing and relax... i know... so much easier said than done. Were you at your goal weight when you got PG? If you were still over goal, then I seriously would not worry. I'm sure your baby is fine.
Keep us posted sweetie.

Had my scan yesterday, and baby E was looking good-- he is a little peanut, 20% percentile for his gestational age....but my OB said that was perfectly fine. However, we did receive some very scary news that my amniotic fluid is extremely low (they like the fluid pocket to measure between 10-20cm, and mine was just 5cm) so I am now on bedrest & increased fluid intake until the 22nd, when they will re-check my levels to see if they have improved. If so, I will be moved up to "modified bedrest" and watched closely for the rest of the pregnancy. If they have worsened, I will be on hospital bedrest for the remainder of the pregnancy, which would be a nightmare. Luckily, between my DH and my mom, we have childcare covered while I'm resting, but it's very stressful and nerve-wracking.... I just want a healthy baby. I have been trying not to obsessively Google stuff about low fluid because I will just work myself up. OB said that baby looked perfectly normal anatomically, the placenta looked great, etc... so other than the fluid, everything seems OK in there.
Please cross your fingers & toes for me that the level has increased by the 22nd!
