i need some help

i was wondering if someone could tell me how to post a pic and also to upload a picture for my avatar? i've tried to do it by uploading from the computer and thru my phone but i can't seem to get any of my pics to be the right size so that it will upload. if someone could give me some advice i would so appreicate it! thanks everyone!
