Pregnant!

OMG

Was a week late and had my regular checkup today with my PCP.  When he saw I was late he ordered a pregnancy test and it came back positive.

I am in shock.  I just stopped breastfeeding and really have not been having much sex.  I tried for 8 years before I got pregnant with my first, who is not even 7 months yet.

I feel so confused right now.  My husband is going to flip.  He kept saying he did not want to have another child because he felt we have been so blessed with what we have and does not want to take the chance that something could be wrong with the baby because of our age.  I was taking a low does of BC cause I was BFing and have to admit I missed days.

I also feel guilty about having another one and not being able to devote 100% of my time to my first who will not even be 2 when he/she is born.

What am I going to do?

ADDED:  I am sorry to those who are and have been trying to get pregnant and here I am complaining.  My intention is not to to offend anyone, just to get some support.

Didn't want to read and run....  Congrats?  I am up there in age 39 DH=44 and I am happy with whatever God has blessed us with.  Hope you find the answer you want.  You will have enough love and time to devote to both kids.  Our hearts just grow and get stronger with each blessing.

I will be 40 in January and my husband is much older!
Is it really a blessing from God or just my stupidity for not being responsible with BC?
Ughhhh....I am having a real hard time with this.

I do truly understand where you are coming from.  I had my daughter 13 years before I had my first boy.  Needless to say I am here looking at a 1 year old, 2 year old, and a 4 year.  Am I was told I would never have kids.  Boy, did God have other plans. lol  The fight like crazy but are the best of friends.  It great to watch them play and plot things against their older sister. lol  You will be find and your husband will be in shock like you but hey, at least you did throw a positive pregnancy test at him like I did mine. lol  OF course, he just laughed.  I think it is normal when we get pregnant so fast one right after the other that we don't know how to react.  I have talked to alot of ladies who feel the same way as you do however they don't believe in birth control.  Good luck to you and when the shock is over, you both will be very happy.

I totally understand why your shocked and confused, but like others said, this is a blessing from God and you both will be able to handle the baby great! Don't feel guilty about not being able to devote all your time on your oldest child...you will find you have enough love and time for both! Once the shock wears off (and it could take some time), you will find this was the way things are meant to be! And for the record, I'm 38 (will be 39 in January) and my hubby just turned 41. We are raising 4 kids and I believe by having my younger 2 boys later in life keep me and my hubby young! Also, I have a classmate that is expecting her 5th and her hubby just turned 50! Things will better than you expect...you will see! Congrats!

Thanks everyone for your kind words....
The shock is wearing off a bit, but geezz - never thought I would be in this situation.
My husband took it much better then I thought he would.  In fact, he actually seemed happy.  Whether he was doing this for my sake or he was truly happy I dunno, but it did make me feel better.

I told my 7 month old and he didn't seem to mind lol...

Well I guess I am having another baby.  I will be sure to keep everyone updated as I go along and thanks again.

Congrats! It definately takes a while for things to sink in. Even though I planned my pregnancy I still have times where I'm freaking out like how am I going to handle two under two and what in the world was I thinking! It is scary, but I think everything happens for a reason. Good luck to you!
