2 Months Pregnant

Today is my 1  year surgiversary!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  And as of Sunday I am 2 months pregnant.  I have not gained a single pound and the extreme bloating keeps me from even wanting to eat.  How much weight did you gain after you got pregnant?  I don't feel like I am eating enough to sustain myself let alone a growing baby.
Also how soon did you start buying baby stuff?  The father told me it is too early, and that I should really get anything until the baby is born....which I think is crazy talk.
Did you have morning sickness the entire 9 months?  Any suggestions on how to releive it or the excessive bloating?
I am full of questions, and since the father doesn't even want to talk about the baby till it is born...I have no one else to talk to !

Really? Your boyfriend is doing some crazy talk. After your first trimester,(which is your most critical time) I would start preparing for that bundle of joy. Nothing wrong with stocking up on diapers, comfort clothes etc. Doing this a little at a time will keep you from having a huge big expense latter. After all, those little people can get pretty expensive. Take care of yourself and do what the doctors tell you about how to manage your diet while being pregnant after wls and I'm sure you'll be fine. Take Care, Blessings

I bought a package of diapers and wipes every time I went to WalMart or Target. I still haven't had to buy wipes and I didn't start getting diapers until he was about 8months old. He's 10 mos now.
I bought a ton of things prior to his birth. What I didn't buy I was then able to ask for at baby showers. I also bought a lot of things second hand- boppy, toys, bedding, montior, bumbo seat, bouncer, baby tub...etc etc. The only thing I ended up having to buy last minute was the bassinet. I say last minute but I was still a month out. It was easier to space out the finances by buying a little bit at a time too. The best places to buy are Craig's List and Just Between Friends. You can look at the quality of the items and choose if you want them or not before you buy. Most baby things have only been used a handful of times so they look brand new- and I didn't have to assemble them.

I'm sorry the father doesn't want to be part of the pregnancy. That really stinks.

Good luck!

Thank you for your replies.  Finances are always an issue.  I wanted to put the bigger items (crib, rocker) on lay-a-way and pay on it gradually.  Things like clothes, car seat, stroller, I can get that here and there if I don't end up getting it at the baby shower.  I never thought about craigslist, thank you!
It is a shame that he isn't more actively involved in the actual pregnancy, but I think he doesn't even realize because he is not going through it.  Which isn't right but I don't think he can even comprehend what a woman goes through, especially one that has been through WLS.  It is a different ball game that is for sure.

Thank you again.

I don't know where you are at in Fl, but here is a list of the JBF sales in Fl. Craigslist is usually cheaper, but sometimes you just can't find what you're looking for. JBF has tons and tons of clothes to sort through. (It's my favorite part of the sale) They even have maternity wear as well. I always go on the last day so I get in free, If you preregister as a first time mom you get the admission waved as well, or if you volunteer. If you go in free and don't find anything then all you're out is gas. (This is what I tell my husband anyways! lol)

Well, aside from the father being a butt, first and foremost: congratulations!

As for food, I really didn't worry about it too much in my first trimester except that I tried to focus on eating as naturally and healthy as possible (for me, that meant no artificial sweeteners, no soy, low in carbs, plenty of protein and fat). At that time, the baby is so small and not yet really feeding off of what you eat anyway. I did not have morning sickness, but I still lost 12 pounds my first trimester. I found staying low in carbs (particularly grains and sugar) and drinking plenty of water took care of the bloating for me. I had very little appetite and did have some taste changes and a couple food aversions. Don't worry - it will get better! Once my appetite kicked back in (and baby started growing more rapidly), I gained 7 pounds in 4 weeks!

As for baby stuff, I have started sort of "gathering" stuff, but not buying stuff - I got nursery furniture, carriers/carseats, stroller, bouncy seats, swing, bottle warmer, and a few other things all second hand from friends and family. I'm 23 weeks today, and we JUST cleaned out the future nursery over the weekend, so we can finally start organizing and setting it up. If you wait until the baby is born, you'll be totally unprepared! Who wants to have to go running around shopping for stuff when you've got a newborn to care for? You'll be tired and adjusting to a whole new lifestyle - no need to add additional stress of shopping on top of that!

I won't buy diapers ahead of time - I've heard too many complaints about XYZ brand not working well for so-and-so's baby - they all fit differently, and babies are all shaped differently, so I don't want to end up with a 6-month supply of diapers that don't work well on my baby.

I stuck with Target and Walmart for buying diapers so that if something didn't work out, like you mentioned, I knew where it came from. I ended up exchanging quite a few boxes of Huggies for Pampers because somehow my little dude can wet out the side of a Huggie. I'm sure it's human error and I'm totally to blame, but I just could not get them to keep the "moisture" on the INSIDE of the diaper instead of the OUT. ugh! Who knew there could possibly be a wrong way to put a diaper on a baby?? I was totally bummed too because I really liked the ecofriendly Huggies- they are the sofest ones on the market too. My MIL said to run your fingers around the elastic on the inside and that would solve the issue. It worked for her, but never for me. I returned them without receipts and the money was put on a gift card and then I went and purchased the alternate ones with the gift card.

I will just wait. Exchanging is more work than just buying later! I will only have 6 weeks home with baby after birth, so I don't want to waste a single minute in customer service lines if I don't have to   :)
