TTC, PCOS, and RouenY
Hello everyone!
I'm 8months post op, been diagnosed with PCOS since Apr. 2002, and have been TTC since 1998. I'm hoping that losing weight (I've lost 160 lbs so far) that my chances for a family is still possible.
Have any of you achieved pregnancy after significant weight loss?
Just looking for some hope...thank you all for your input!

Hello!
I had RNY in 2003, lost 130+ lbs. I had PCOS before and after surgery. We started TTC about two years after my surgery but my cycles were still not regular even with the weight loss. However, after hit or miss with different meds, Metformin and Clomis(I am resistant) I finally found my "****tail" through the help of my OB/GYN and a fertility specialist. I was able to conceive with the assistance of meds only, no IUI or IVF required. I did have a HSG exam done to make sure tubes clear and that may have helped but no other invasive procedures. Only complication of pregnancy was low progesterone in the first 12 weeks which I took suppository supplements for. My son just turned 4 in October. I will start the process over again some time next year. I think lots of ladies here can offer great success stories.

That is amazing! I'm so happy that you received your blessing and I'm sure your confidence level is very high for your next attempt!
I'm hoping to join you in the success dept :)
I'm looking forward to hearing from others that have either bad or good responses as well.
Thank you for the ray of hope!

I had PCOS before WLS. I was very lucky to get pregnant with my now 12 year old but we tried for 7 years after that to have another. We never could (he had an issue too). We divorced in 2006. I had WLS in 2009 and I got pregnant exactly a year later with my current husband, while on birth control. I had lost 200+ lbs. I firmly believe that had I not had WLS, I never would have had another child.
I have PCOS and used not get periods sometimes for over 6 months. I had lapband place in 2004 and drop 30 pounds, as soon as that happened i started to have periods more often, when my husband and I decided to start a family my OBGYN refered me to the infertility doctor but right before my appt i was pregnant with my first. We discover that even when i didnt ovulated every month when i did i felt pain (Mittelschmerz syndrome). Last year i had a revision from my lapband to VSG since i got lots of complications with the band and actually didnt lose anymore weight, since my new surgery i had loose 80 more pounds and my periods come everymonth. I have 2 beautiful daughters now both concieved on our first try and hopefully we will add a new baby soon as soon as my OBGYN tells me i can try again (I got pregnant in august but end up on miscarriage).
Losing weight helps a lot for some people with PCOS and because of that i dont need to treat it since i dont need assistant getting pregnant and hopefully it would be the same for you.
ill keep my finger cross for you
Good Luck
Norma
