Hello everyone,
My 6 month old has had a rash on his face for the past 3 days or so. He had his 6 month checkup and the Dr. was not concerned. Told us to just keep an eye on it. It is not getting worse or better. Nothing new in his diet so I don't think its a food allergy. He does have 2 teeth coming through so perhaps its from that. I'm not overly concerned, but am wondering if there is anything I can put on it to make it better. Dr. said just to put lotion on it, but that seems kinda harsh. Plus its right by his mouth. Any suggestions?

i would try a fragrance free lotion myself to see if that helps....it is getting colder and alot of children get rashes from having dry skin but like i said i would use a fragrance free lotion so it doesn't make his skin irritated any more than what it already is...one of my boys gets rashes like that and its from dry skin. hope that helps.

I put that on his face as well, but it looked like it made it worse. Maybe it was because the greasy look made it look reader? I dunno.
My son has very sensitive skin and during the winter his little chin will develop some mild eczema (rash). I have use Hydrocortisone 1% and 2.5% depending upon severity. Of course the 2.5% is perscription sternght and ur and his ped. will need to order it. My pedi would do nothing stronger due to the location (by the mouth). It clears it right up and doesnt seem to cause any pain or discomfort. I also used Aveeno baby products during the winter months and it helped greatly. This is very common so don't get to worried. Hope this helps.

I went through an issue with my youngest son where he woke up one day with this crazy rash near his mouth and cheeks. There were no new additions to his diet, he hadn't been exposed to anything strange. I took him to the Doctor and was told not to worry. It stayed the same, finally got a referral to a dermatologist, he gave me an ointment. It did nothing. I finally found a "country doctor" dermatologist. He was not the typical doctor, he walked in the room in jeans and Sorel snow boots, took one look at my son and said, "How many idiots have you seen over this rash?" I was kinda shocked at how blunt he was. He then asked to see what my son had been given as treatment. He said, "this will only make the rash worse". He then explained to me that when my son sleeps, he drools, this drool causes the microscopic resides from the laundry detergent to become active. So, he told me the diagnosis was "Drool Eczema". The solution? When washing my sons sheets, add an extra rinse cycle. I was floored. I went home, washed his sheets and in a couple days his face was all clear. I have no clue if this is what is going on with you, but when I saw in your post that your son is teething I immediately thought about the possibility of it being what I went through. My son had his rash for like 2 months until I finally saw this other doctor.
Good Luck and I hope he gets better soon!

Ummm, lets see if I can explain this.
It is around his mouth, its spotty, its flat. It looks the best when he first gets up then it tends to get worse as the day goes on. It's now been a few days and it seems to be getting better, but no completely gone yet. Doesn't seem to bother him at all.....
