Finally starting to feel a little excited

My first trimester was a breeze - I had some symptoms (very sore breasts, food aversions, nausea, etc.) for about 2 weeks, but as soon as I got good control of my diet (went low carb, no grains, no artificial sweeteners, no soy), my symptoms all went away except some fatigue. I lost 12 pounds in my first trimester. I'm now 21 weeks tomorrow, and I've still not regained all of those 12 pounds, nor do I have a bump - I can still comfortably wear my regular jeans, zipped and buttoned and everything.

Sounds great, right?

Well, to me, it was basically 12 weeks (didn't find out until I was about 8 weeks along) of just being tired all the time. I just felt LAZY. With no symptoms, no physical signs, not feeling any movement, nothing! I just felt like I was being tired and lazy with nothing to show for it, if that makes sense. I actually referred to it as "pregnancy purgatory."

But FINALLY, things are turning a corner! I still have no bump or weight gain, but I can actually feel some movement every day now. It's not yet strong enough to feel from the outside, but I can feel it like little muscle twitches internally. I also had my anatomy scan on Friday, so now we know we're having a boy, and that he looks 100% normal and healthy so far, weighing in at 13 ounces as of Friday morning.

So, just within this last week, it's like everything finally became REAL!

Of course, with ups come downs, right? We had been house hunting for a single family home for our growing family, and we even had an offer submitted on a house, but then my husband got laid off completely unexpectedly just last week. We had to rescind our offer and are now replanning things with a completely diferent budget in mind. At least we hadn't just closed on a new house when it happened!

Hey, what awesome news! So happy for you to have this new bundle of joy finally all come to "reality" and to be experiencing daily reminders and "verifications". Fabulous. I am very sorry though for the blow that your DH's job loss has got to be. So much of a blessing in the timing in that it was while you could still restructure things but still.... {hugs} to you and prayers for strength and ease as you go through your remaining weeks and months and as your husband looks for a new job.  N
