I think most regular grocery stores carry nitrate free bacon and hotdogs now. I've gotten mine at Wegmans, Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, and Giant, but I'm not sure if any of those are in your neck of the woods. Sausages are a bit tougher to come by, but I've gotten them at least at Whole Foods and Trader Joe's.
I wouldn't think having a little would hurt. The studies appear to have correlated once a week or more to the increased risk of tumors. If you're the type who can handle moderation, maybe try having just enough to quench the craving. I'm not good with moderation, so I'd rather cut things out because if I have some, I'll usually just want more!

I would say 1 or 2 of those chocolate things are fine. I had a sip of a drink when I was pregnant. Not a glass, a sip.
Sushi - I lived on it! The cooked kinds from Wegmans (a high end grocery store)
Nitrates - well I was careful but didn't avoid them 100%, I was pregnant over the holidays and ate what I wanted. I love bacon and would eat it probably once a week. my OB also said that lunchmeat was OK as long as it was fresh sliced, eaten within a few days and bought from a reputable source.
Good luck!

I bought nitrate/nitrite free hot dogs and bacon from WalMart. Oscar Mayer packages them. They're not a whole lot more expensive than the cheapo ones either. My family loves the cheap ones...go figure. We have a lake house so we grill a lot during the summer. I always bought my own package of hot dogs and shared the bacon (it didn't taste "different" to them).
It shows that Meyers in your area sells lots of different Applegate products. http://www.applegatefarms.com/products/
With enough research you can find summer sausage that's nitrate/nitrite free I bet. Good luck!!
