10-14 day wait for Amnio results
Hi everyone
It's been a while since I've posted anything on this board. I wanted to give you all a quick update and ask if everyone could say a prayer for our family.
Since I'm over 35 my hubby and I decided to have the 1st trimester Downs screen. All my blood work came back normal, but the NT thickness was twice as thick as it should be. During this time our 6 1/2 year old son has been have alot of difficulties in school and has since been diagnosed with ADHD. Due to the envolvement that is needed for my son right now we decided to have an amnio done to get the facts and so I don't have to worry about two kids. Amnio was done on Tuesday and now we wait. It will take 10-14 days to get the results back.
We have decided we are not going to find out the sex of the baby as we wanted to keep something a surprise till the end. I'm currently 16 weeks and already looking foward to the end.

HUGE prayers for you and your family.
I had the option of doing the amnio and opted out of it (I was 37). The sono looked good but my blood work came back a little high. Then I had some things happen that were common for pregnancies of babies with Down's. I gave it to God and prayed that He'd give me the baby that belonged in my life. I'm a speech therapist so I know a lot about intervention, resources, etc. if the baby had been born with any birth defects. I didn't figure I could prepare if the baby indeed had any issues more than what I already know.
The NF is only one small marker in a big picture. Head shape, heart, kidneys, orbits, bloodwork all are markers too. If all of those came back abnormal then obviously the chance is even greater. With just the NF measuring thicker you're baby is most likely happy and healthy.
I hope the next week and a half to two weeks speed by and that you get a negative on the results. Good luck!!!
