So I am a busy mother of four, all conceived before my wls 10 months ago.  I am very close to my goal and husband and I would like to try again.  I am waiting until the 18 month mark to try.  I would like to practice maintaing my weight and making sure I can support a pregnancy nutritionally.  I'm just curious what my next steps should be?  What vitamins should I take and when should I start them, that kind of thing.  HOw was pregnancy different for you after wls?  What medical concerns should I have that I didn't have pre op?  ANy input is welcome, just no horror stories please, I'm really sensitive to that kind of thing.

Folic acid is very important. You actually need to start taking it months prior to conception and then during pregnancy. I want to say like 2-3 months prior to starting you should be taking it. There is an interesting study done by March of Dimes and folic acid online. http://www.marchofdimes.com/pnhec/173_769.asp

I had to increase my calories and change up some of what I was eating (more carbs etc), but otherwise nothing really differed.

Good luck!
