9 week pregnant, looking for nutritional info
Hello everyone!
I'm 9 weeks pregnant. I am also 2 years post RNY-GBS. I am confused as to how much I am supposed to eat now that I am pregnant. I find that I get hungrier faster BUT I can eat less than before (I assume that is due to overcrowding). I also find that I don't really crave sweets but that I need more starches. What could this be from?
Does anyone have any good resources for post-RNY prenatal nutrition? I have an appointment with my NUT in a few weeks but I would love something sooner.

Well I've heard you only need around 300-400 extra calories to substain the baby. It's a good idea that you eat good carbs (whole grains, rice, etc.). It's also very common to be able to eat more foods and tolerate more foods while pregnant. So if your finding you eat more overall in the day, but smaller portions....you might be totally fine.....just try to make the healthiest choices. Make sure you drink plenty of water and take your vitamins! It's also important to have your vitamin levels checked at least 3 times while your pregnant to make sure you don't get deficient on anything! Congrats on your pregnancy!
My OB and Surgeon both said 3-400 extra calories, add complex carbs and eating small meals throughout the day is fine, just try to make the best choices you can! I noticed a lot more restriction than before that's probably everything moving around. There are days I can eat normal and days I can't eat much at all so I have to have smaller meals several times a day!
Congrats on your pregnancy! Hope you have a healthy 9 months!
