membrane sweep

Just wondering if anyone ever had their membrane swept and if it helped the with labor process. Had my 39 wk appt today and was 3 cm dilated, 50% effaced. Started having contractions at 4 this morning and has continued after my appt, so I am hoping it will happen soon.

With my 1st I had bloody show and then the Dr told me to come in that same morning and he took the rest of the mucus plug out. As soon as I stood up I started having full contractions. I am not for sure if it helped because I already had bloody show.... it couldn't help right?

I had mine swept a couple days after 40 weeks and went into labor about 48 hours later.  Not sure if the membrane sweep did it or if I would have gone then anyway, but I thought it was worth having it done.
