How did you learn?
Good Afternoon,
My spouse and I are working on trying to concieve our first child, we are so excited!
I have found a serious of books that I love and find very useful, however I have more questions - and my friends always say stick to one book/author otherwise you will get mixed messages and such.
This author is Canadain, and focuses on our health care system, and support systems avaliable to us.
However, I feel a little in the blue about ovulation - I was wondering what do you use to learn about it.
My spouse insists that there is to be no fertility monitor, as he does not want to make our sex life about reading a machine and then me saying "lets do it." He says lets just have fun! I agree, but it is killing me not to use it, as I want to get pregnaut yesturday.
This is what I know, I am designed to ovulate once per month, however it may not always happen. The time in which I ovulate can changed simply by just being stressed. So, the only thing that can really tell me when it is happening is the mucus sampling.
Once the mucus becomes that egg white stretchy consistancy - what does that mean..does this mean get into bed and start doing it? Does this mean it is too late and I should have had sex the day before?
Thank you in advance for your advice, I truly appreciate it.

I joined Fertility Friend.com, used an ovulation predictor kit and temp'd. FF tracks all the info that you enter and also has tutorials to help you figure out your body. I have a 28 day cycle but one of my phases is 16 days and the other is 12...who knew? lol I was 37 when we started trying and was pregnant like after the first night, so either I'm very fertile or all my data worked. I learned lots of information on FF and then was able to use that knowledge with the data I was collecting from my own body.
The easiest for me was the ovulation predictors. It works much like a pregnancy test. You urinate on it and it gives two lines, one control line and another if the hormone your body releases during ovulation is present. The more hormone level, the darker the line.
I didn't do the mucus part because I'm just not that into my body. Having to "investigate down there" was more than I wanted to do.
My husband was against fertility monitoring too, but I am a VERY analytical person and just couldn't go the six months he was suggesting and just sit by passively and wait. If I told him about the monitoring he would have been stressed completely out about the entire thing. He knew I was researching and all but he didn't want to know about everything so I didn't share. We had a mutual agreement- don't ask, don't tell. TMI- our sex life was always active so he was none the wiser on my fertile days. I'm not suggesting this unless you both agree to it.
Good luck!

Making sex just about having a baby DOES take all the fun out, but hey you gotta do what you gotta do! At least I did! Yes once your mucus becomes stretchy its time to do the deed! Besides using a ovulation app on my phone I looked at my body signs to see when it was time. I say use the monitor, it helps a lot. But if you and hubby agree not to use it then just make sex about love and I know it will happen for you soon! :)
