Did your belly pop out?

Hey ladies... I read on here often but do not post very much. I am 17 weeks pregnant with my 2nd.
Here is a little history just so you "know" me... LOL
My hubby and I tried for 5 1/2 yrs to conceive our daughter. She is 21 months and the best thing that has EVER happend to me. We decided to start trying 17 months post op (RNY). I had lost 135 lbs at that time. We thought it would take at least 4-6 months (if not longer) to conceive since we had so much trouble with our first. We litterally conceived the very first time we had sex without protection! We are beyond excited! I have lost 15 lbs since getting preg. but have leveled off the past couple of weeks.

So here is my question... and I am sure you will understand... LOL
I am 5'11'' and weigh 221... I have alot of extra skin from loosing so much weight. I have the wonderful top roll of skin and bottom roll of skin... don't you love that! Any of you that are built the same... did your stomach ever round out in your pregnancy and if so how far along were you? I can feel the baby especially when I lay down and all the skin falls to the side... I am hoping that I will have that belly bump... the maternity pants help with the great divide... but I am just curious if I am going to "pop".
I know I am not that far along yet... but everyone keeps telling me how great I look and that I don't even look pregnant... This is a GREAT problem to have... but I want to look pregnant... LOL

Thanks
Kristen

Try wearing shaping cami's or a bella band under your maternity shirts, it helps to "round out" everything.

I'm also 5'11 and  carried most of my weight in my belly and since losing I have a LOT of belly hanging! It's starting to fill out a bit in the center now with skin hanging below and around it,but as mentioned, the bella band or a cami helps hold things in and makes me look more pregnant. It brings the belly more front and center and looks less like I'm regaining weight and more like there's a baby in there, lol

I'm 18 weeks with my 2nd.  My daughter is almost 12 years old! So, it's been a while since I've been pregnant.  I remember my first pregnancy, I was about 220 and 21 years old... so at 4-5 months when I popped out... it was OUT!

Now, at 180lbs and 140lbs post WLS... I'm at 4 months again and you can't even tell I'm pregnant.  I too can have those two folds of fat still hanging there... and I too can feel the baby bump when I lay down... but I have a feeling that I'm not going to "pop" or show like a normal 180lbs woman would.  And to be honest, I'm okay with that.  I worked really hard on my weight loss and I don't necessarily need to get fatter or rounder or bigger to feel pregnant.  :)

Good luck to you!! And I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who isn't showing cause of the extra skin!

Betsy,

I was curious.  Have you spoken to your docs yet about the glucose tolerance test??  I've brought it up to my Frauenärztin, but she can't understand my explanation of dumping.  And I dump like a truck these days and do NOT want to do the glucose tolerance test.  Was just wondering what kind of feedback you're getting over there. (I'm in Austria...)

Hope things are well!

I haven't been told anything about that test.  I don't dump though.... luckily.  :)

If I hear anything from my doctor about it, I'll let you know!

Hi! I am 5'8" and am about 190 right now at 17 weeks (so with the height difference we're probably about the same). With my first pregnancy it took FOREVER for me to pop out. I think I didn't tuly look pregnant until almost 30 weeks. Ugh. I too, wanted to look pregnant so badly (we had tried for 5 years to get pregnant and I was soooooooo happy, so I wanted everyone to see it). This time I do have a bit of a bump already, but like with everyone else, if I wear the belly band or the full panel pants it rounds out much better. I honestly think that I don't show as much because I am very long waisted and the babies just have lots of room to hang out in there.
Good luck with your pregnancy! When is your due date? Mine is 3/17 (St. Patrick's Day).

Tina, can you tell me what a belly band is and where I might find one.  Was thinking I'd order one and have it sent to my mom who could send it to me.  Most the stores don't do international shipping...  I'd like to look a little rounder... : )

I can see and feel my bump, but I think to most people I just look like I've put on some weight...

5"10 inches and had lost 135lbs before I found out I was pregnant.  My belly didn't "pop" until about 6 months out.  I have a lot of excess skin around my belly, so it just looked like I ate a big meal.  Even now, when I sit in certain positions, you can't tell I'm pregnant because the skin relaxes.  Also, my weight gain has been less than 10lbs, so my belly is not very big.

Thanks for all of your comments... being healthy is much more important to me than "showing" that will just be an added bonus ... still crossing my fingers that the further along I get I will look more pregnant. Right now even with the undergarments I don't look pregnant... but I am still early... I am due 3/19.
Congrats to you all!!
