Feeling like a failure!! When will I get excited???
Aww hunnie...you didnt fail!! If anything you have succeeded. Because you took control of your life and decided to lose the weight, you are having the greatest gift....a baby!! Don't be so hard on yourself. I was worried at first but then realized that my ultimate reason for having my band was to help me lose the weight so I can conceive, which I tried for 8 years pre-WLS unsuccessfully, and experience the healthiest pregnancy I could. I had ALL my fluid removed around 16 weeks and honestly I only gained 23lbs the entire pregnancy and LOST it almost entirely within a week or two after giving birth! The band will work as long as you are doing your best to follow the doctors recommendations. As long as you have a healthy baby thats all that we can hope for!. After you give birth and the doctor clears you for excercise and diet, I am sure you will get right back on track. Plus this board is excellent when it comes to support and positive praise!! Definitely here if you need ANYTHING!

Awww!! Thank you soooo much. I so needed that my children are 14 and 2. I'm just so afraid of failing at something I worked so hard to get to. I noticed you live in Neptune where a lot of my family lives. Glad to here that your weight came right off. What kinds of food did you eat during your pregnancy? Yesterday I wa able to eat and whole Beef hot dog and some fries!! Thats bad.! Maybe we can meet to someday I'm planning to visit my family soon.
Don't feel like a failure!!! I'm scared of the same things!!! But, babies are such a blessing, I think if we're sensible, it'll all work out. There's nothing that says you'll gain a ton of weight and not get it off!!
I'm in the beginning of my 18th week. Some days I feel like I eat too much others like I haven't eaten nearly enough and have to force myself to eat a little extra. As of last week, I've gained 2 pounds... stay sensible, keep exercising and believe all will be well and it will be!!
You aren't alone in this journey! Enjoy the pregnancy for what it is... the best gift in the world!!
Best wishes to you!

I think we all have that fear that we won't be able to lose weight or that we've somehow failed! Your tool will still be there after baby and as long as you're aware and trying your best you'll be fine! You're not alone and this is a great place for support and encouragement along the way! Right now the goal is healthy baby so take care of yourself and know that your journey isn't over!! Hope you have a healthy pregnancy and congrats!!

I'm 18 wks pregnant with my third and I worry about this from time to time.
I have 2 other kids, but I had them PRE-WLS so I was already fat when I got pregnant, so I didn't really worry about gaining weight because I was fat right from the start, if that makes sense!
I guess we post-WLS-patients are all so aware of how far we've come weight-wise (and where we started... I shudder when I look at my "before" pictures!) and we don't want to go back!
But, I think--like most of the ladies have said-- if you are sensible and try to stay active, you should be just fine. I'm a hare short of 5 months pregnant and I've only gained 2 pounds. Try to focus on the excitement you feel about the new little one growing inside you! Good luck! -V
