19 weeks and miserable
I'm about a year and a half post -vsg. I lost 75 lbs, and I'm happy with my weight. I'm 19 weeks pregnant, and the pregnancy has been REALLY hard on me. I'm constantly sick and no energy. I feel sick when I eat and when I don't eat. I have trouble eating as much as I used to. I haven't gained any way (lost some, in fact). Is it the fact that I had the surgery and can't eat much that is making this so hard? I thought after 13-14 weeks, I would feel better, but I am still just absolutely miserable!!! HELP!!
I think every one of us is different - every pregnancy is different...
I am 2.5 years post RNY, and in my first pregnancy... I am 16 weeks pregnant.
I have gained about 8 pounds and my doctors think this is a good thing... I however am border line on liking it - I *KNOW* it is in my best interest, but I don't have to like it, after what I did to lose it in the first place...
I border on good days and bad days... Up until this week, I would have told you I HATED pregnancy... I suspect 7 or 8 months from now, I may change my mind, but I know this will likely be our only baby. I am NOT cut out for pregnancy...
My eating is bordering on having trouble keeping food down today, wanting EVERYTHING in sight but not getting past two bites before the idea of food appalls me, to being able to eat huge amounts (comparing only to pre-pregnancy...) The lack of any rhyme or reason to my eating wants is making me crazy...
With that said, it has gotten better the past 5-6 days, I finally broke past insomnia and have SLEPT - it does a WHOLE lot for my mindset...
I am also diabetic, I was pre RNY and was completely off meds with normal ranges until pregnancy - and now I am back on insulin, testing and monitoring 8X a day - and expected to eat way more carbs than I want to... These things also stressed me out...
I think the only thing getting me through this, is the idea of the baby and the outcome...
I know this probably did NOT help, but I just wanted you to know you are NOT alone... I think we all have ups and downs, some worse than others... But we plod along knowing it is temporary and the end result is worth it....

I think it's just a matter of every woman being different, not necessarily a surgery issue. I'm 15 weeks and 1 day today, and I've LOST 11-12 pounds since I found out I was pregnant. I've not been sick at all and only had a little bit of nausea, and my weight had been stable for many many months prior to pregnancy, but this is just how it's going for me so far. *shrug*
It is pregnancy related, not surgery. Every person is different and every pregnancy, but it is probably just normal for you. I've had two pregnancies (one before WLS, one after) and never a moment of morning sickness. Sleeve has not changed pregnancy at all for me and I was only 6 months out when I got pregnant. Hang in there, things will get better!
I agree with Paula, this is pregnancy related, not surgery. I felt this way when I carried my daughter (pre WLS) sadly, I felt this way until she started really moving well and I started to get a good sense of well being.
One thing I did that helped a little with my energy was to walk outside everyday. Sometimes only for 10 minutes... but it helped boost my energy.
Hang in there! You'll feel better! Make sure you tell your doctor or midwife how you are feeling!!!
Best wishes to you!
