IUD's: Mirena or Paragard ?

I have a consult with my OBGYN on Tuesday to discuss IUD's.

Apparently there is the hormonal Mirena and the Copper Paragard?

Any suggestions or advice on which one you personally have?

I had the mirena for 1 1/2 yrs and yes it gave me lighter periods but I also had really loong periods almost 9-10 days and spotting almost always in between cycles.. hated it and wouldnt do it again. Now thats just me I know a few friends who said they had really short or no periods with it and never any complaints soo I guess Im just the lucky one lol.. the copper one I have heard gives you super heavy periods. so just  based on my experience I would not get it again even though I did like the fact that I didnt have to think about whether or not I was protected.

I had Mirena for 7 years (2 different ones) I had little or no periods and no problems or complants.

I had Mirena for 4 years and had very light to no period.  I got preggers 3 months after I had it removed.  I think after baby is born I'll have another put in.

I had my first Mirena for 5 years. I had it put in after being on depo for some time, so by the time my periods would have returned after the depo, they stopped again because of the mirena. After I had my son, I had another Mirena put in, I spotted for the first couple of months, then returned to having little or no period. I loved mine!

I had Mirena for less than 1 year. It did give me lighter periods but I was one of the rare women who got pregnant with an IUD.

 After having wls... My IUD(Mirena) literally slipped due to my WL and had to be removed and I'm now 9 weeks pregnant!!
